In this video we take you to Gayndah Qld. Staying at an old Railway terminal we went on a tour through some carriages and learnt about the local railway history.
Gayndah is well known for the citrus grown in the region and we purchased some delicious oranges from the "Big Orange".

I would be more nervous on the bridge than of the backpacker lol😂. The bridge was amazing. John is a cheeky sod lol 😂. Gayndah is an interesting town. We actually have been I. Mellors and even bought a tea towel. That rail heritage place for caravans was never there. It looks a great spot very historic. Apparently Gayndah is the oldest town in queensland

It very nearly became the State Capital instead of Brisbane. How different things would have been if it had. It's a beautiful place and is filled with the friendliest people I've ever met 😊

Oh and the store you spoke of the flying fox I actually saw in Mt Morgan in a shop there. It was really interesting to see and can only imagine what it was like back in the day.

30 years ago, I traveled around Australia for half a year. I only had a tourist visa. it was difficult to get a job without a work visa. nevertheless, I was in this town - Gayndah, for 2 weeks I picked tangerines from some crazy family that didn't want to pay us for our work. my friend and I hitchhiked from Bowen to Sydney. In Gayndah, we slept in the camp, but the owner of the camp kicked us out of the camp after a few days because we were showering together. then we went across the bridge to another camp and waited for work, but we didn't find it. .....while waiting for work, we drank in taverns along the main road. the whole town drank in these taverns. young and grand mothers , , children, the whole city.the beer flowed in streams. there was a long towel on the counter in the pub . every now and then the waitress pushed it into the funnel - she was wet from the beer .there was also an elderly lady drinking there, who invited us to spend the night with her. her house was full of canned goods. she didn't cook anything. for dinner she opened a can of spaghetti goulash. there were cats in the house, everything stank of cat urine. when we got up in the morning, she was gone. only cats and canned goulash. what memories...... then we wanted to go to the coast, but the buses didn't run every day. just a few days per week. we hitchhiked all day along the road but no one stopped us. it wasn't until late in the evening that the truck carrying tangerines to Bundaberg stopped.... I was 26 years old at the time. crazy trip around crazy good australia.

In my old home town of Wauchope, I recall that a grocery shop had one of those flying fox systems... it always intrigued me when I was a kid. -------- Did you ask the backpacker if the boots you saw, were his? -------- It's a shame the Queensland inland rail system is now no longer used. A lot of the towns out there, still have remnants of it.

Loving your journeys. Giving us inspiration of places to visit. We will be hitting the road next year for our bigger trip and these beautiful little places might be the ones we head to when the mad school holidays start in that state. Places to wait it out and chill for a bit.

History of Gayndah is great but now in 2024 it’s just a joke along with the council here today most shops have been closed and bought by a very disturbed investor and now just stay closed slowly ruining the town
