I am currently in Bloch but I really really want to try gaynor minden
@freecalls4J5 жыл бұрын
Feleicity Littler, I'd say go for trying Gaynor Miden's pointe shoes. Ever since I purchased my first pair, I have been able to perfect my technique and turn better than I did when I wore Bloch. The nice positive to Gaynor Minden is that your shoes last longer than the average Bloch. I got my first Bloch pair more than a year ago and they lasted me up to approximately three-four months (I was not daily dancing on them, just weekly). I have had my Gaynor Minden shoes for almost a full year with having performed in one winter recital, three Nutcracker shows, and in an intense ballet audition; the shoes are still going strong, although, I am due for a new pair before my upcoming Spring ballet with my ballet company. Should you purchase a pair of Gaynor Minden, sew your elastic as close to your heel as you're able because Gaynor Minden pointe shoes are notorious for slipping off the dancer's foot. My pair of Gaynor Minden shoes slipped off during one of my Nutcracker performances that I had to sew the shoes onto my tights in order to prevent the shoes from being thrown off my feet during the show. Hence, I re-sewed the elastic to the shoes so that they're closer to the back of my heel. I now have no difficulty with slippage.

@@freecalls4J Hi there! I wanted to add to your comment about our shoes being known to slip off. When Gaynor Minden shoes are slipping off the dancer's foot, it's typically due to the shoe not fitting on the foot properly and/or are too short for your foot. We always recommend between 1/4" - 1'8" of material right at the drawstring when you're pressing over en pointe. This ensures that there is enough space to properly fit the heel and also prevents from any digging in at the Achilles when you're en demi-pointe. If you're having to pull up on the shoe that much with your elastics, it's likely due to the length and we would recommend a refit! Feel free to email us photos of your current fit to fitters@dancer.com. We'd be happy to take a look and help with any questions you have!

this is a very old comment, but same! i have very wide metatarsals and generally even toes, but they taper when i'm en pointe, and i sink so much when i'm warm -- super compressible. a 4+ would help me feel supported without sinking but still give me enough width, i think ;~;
@zourdoudaki5 жыл бұрын
YES YES YES!!! THANK YOU!!! I am narrow and neeeeded absolutely neeeeeeded the bigger #4 platform but was sinking in it! So I used the narrow #3 which is a perfect fit, absolutely is and I love it for that, yet has a tricky platform to stay longer on pointe e.g. for turns or barre work in adagio and grands battements. So I had written to you several times asking for a box that feels like a #3 but looks like a #4, haha! I've been nagging, guilty as charged!

Any intentions of coming out with 4+?

Hi! The #5 Box would be perfect for you as it’s just slightly bigger than the #4. We suggest trying it with a Boxliner or Instant Wings! If you're wanting a second opinion on your current fit, feel free to email us at fitters@dancer.com!

In the video you mention 3+ could work for someone who is in between 3 and 4, but also say it could work for someone who fits a 3 but wants a bigger platform. Does that mean if I fit a 3 and only want to try the wider platform I would need to pad a little more to fill up extra space inside? I wasn't sure how 3+ could work for someone in between sizes AND someone who fits a 3. Thank you!

I literally kept my specs the same (sizing, etc. when trying the 3+ & “my size” fit better than any recommended tweaking. This is solely my experience. If a 3 box works for you, I would try a box liner in the 3+: I have various 3,4/5 sized box liners & instant wings so that I can tweak the fit of my shoes all the more precisely: something to consider! (But do keep in mind all Gaynors are now entirely manufactured in Bosnia and Herzegovina (in Europe) and the entire US model fit is now completely different. (They look and feel different) & fit different....I don’t even know what to recommend you: the quality is nothing like the US made shoes + the shipping time is now 12+ weeks to receive one pair for US based customers; sadly. So; do consider this. It’s: beyond heartbreaking. I feel for you & all my fellow GM dancers.

I was wondering if Gaynors would fit wider thicker feet like mine. I really want to try Gaynors but I don’t know if they will fit me. I want to try them because I just started pointe in February and I am already in my 3 rd pair of pointe shoes and I have heard that because Gaynors made differently they would last longer then the regular paste shoes. I also have a very I guess thick, but all the people I have seen wear Gaynors have less wide thin foot.

HI!!!! I am using russian pointe but i don’t feel quite secure. Lots of people recommended me using gaynor. Although when i went to try the gaynors the 4 box felt great secure and beautiful when i was on pointe but, when i was on flat they looked to big for my body since i am so skinny. When i tried the 3 they looked great with my body but i was so unstable since i am so used to be using russians (which have a more stable box). Do u guys recommend me the 3+? -Cordially I wait for your response.

I am thinking about trying Gaynor Mindens in my future. Currently wearing RC20 (formerly Russian Pointe Almaz). I'm finding I have very specific needs as far as platform/box width. Russian Pointe Rubins were slightly too wide and I would sink. I measured them and they were 2" width platform compared to Almaz at 1 and 11/12". 2007s Felt nice but platform slightly too narrow and my toes would overlap in them. I have an old pair of Grishko Novas and measured those and platform is identical in width to Almaz, and I did well with the box in those, but of course I stopped wearing them due to killing the shanks too fast and heel was way too low for my foot. Do you have an actual measurement in inches for a size 8, wide width, box 3+ in Gaynor Minden Sculpted? Curious if that would match the 1 and 11/12" I am looking for. I'm one with very wide feet at the metatarsal, but very tapered Egyptian style toes and compressible feet, very high arches, diamond shape (narrows to heel). I do well in a lower profile shoe and I am attracted to GM pointe shoes for this reason among others. Unfortunately the closest fitter for GM from where I live is almost 3 hours away. I find it frustrating to have such wide metatarsals but very tapered toes with very long big toe and compressible feet. It feels like everything is made for either very wide feet all around or very narrow all around.

I bought the 4 box and the pain on my big toe is unbearable, I think I may be sinking in it :( . I've tried different types of padding, but still no improvement. Do you have any suggestions? At the moment I don't have money to buy new ones, and don't know what to do :/ Everything else fits very well.

Hi! Have you tried Instant Wings? It's a non-compressing Poron foam that'll lift your foot out of the box.

I'm waiting until I can afford a refit to try the 3+. I was fitted in a 4 box, sculpted, medium width. But my feet are highly compressible. I can fit in the 3, but the platform was unstable. I still worry about sinking though because of how compressible my feet are, and I also have a very long big toe. I currently have to use the sock liners and instant wings, wear three toe spacers on each foot, and three layers of foam tape over my big toes. And I still sink painfully into the floor. For a while I was stuffing a demi-spacer in the bottom of the box to sink into, but it slides out of place and I sink past it. It also makes working correctly in the shoe difficult. I was originally fit with thick silicone toe pads because my fitter refused to let me be fitted without them. But even with those pads, I sank. And they also made the shoe unbearably tight and I couldn't articulate well with them. I also suffer from snapping tendons in my toes, so I rely on the spacers I use between the smaller toes to help keep my toes better aligned so the tendons won't snap, because it's excruciating and leads to tenderness in the ball of my foot. I have snapping tendons in several joints in my body (ankles, shoulders, hips, etc). I have the supple shank, but I find the demi-pointe difficult, and at times the shoe pops me over during the roll through. Like I get to the back edge of the platform, there's a slight pause for a split second, and then boop! I don't know if that means I need a softer shank.
@GaynorMindenInc5 жыл бұрын
Hi Kira! It sounds like you would definitely benefit by trying out the 3+ box! Be careful in that 4 box and make sure you have enough support! If you find demi pointe difficult in the Supple, try the Feather shank! It is a beautifully flexible shank, allowing a high demi pointe. The added support of the satin from the Sculpted fit will allow you to go down a strength in the shank. Let us know how your refit goes and what you end up getting! Email us at fitters@gmail.com with any other fitting questions! We are happy to look at your current pair and see if we can tweak anything fit wise! Happy dancing! 😃

I didn't quite understand the rationale behind the transition #3 -->#3+ concerning the shape of the shoe. I'm a narrow #3 sleek fit, really narrow feet and greek tapered shape. Why, since going a bit wider in the #3+ should I switch to sculpted instead of staying in the sleek? Doesn't sculpted make the shoe even wider? I need to stay on the narrow side as much as I can! Also, What would that mean about sizing considering that in the sleek I go a size up? And also if we have an extraflex shank do you think the supple would work better in a #3+ even if I'm tallish and rounder than the average ballerina and my size is as long as 10 (in the sleek, 9 in the regular).

Hi! I'll answer these questions in order of appearance. 1) Our 3+ Box is only available in the Classic and Sculpted Fit. 2) The main difference between the Sculpted and Sleek fit is the shape of the model, not the box width. Check out our video called "Selecting Your Pointe Shoe Model" for some great visuals. 3) The Sleek Fit tapers from the box to the heel, so anyone who is changing from a Classic Fit to a Sleek Fit should size up for this difference in the model. Another great reason to check out that video! This should help with a lot of your questions. The main thing about the 3+ Box, which is stated in the video, is that its ideal for dancers who feel like the #3 is too narrow and unstable and the #4 feels too wide and are overly padding the box to fit their metatarsals. We highly recommend trying it in person, as that is the best gauge to see whether it works for your foot shape! Check out the Store Locator on our website (www.dancer.com) to see where an authorized GM Retailer is near you!

GaynorMindenInc So the option of a 3+ in sleek isn’t even an option? Just making sure I’m understanding this correctly. I’ve never had much luck with the sculpted fit in the dozens of configurations I’ve tried throughout the years...I do feel like, if I’m understanding correctly, my specs (sizing) are indeed not even an option? SK- 10M(3+)Feather - only love, just clarifying. And if not, If, after I try the sculpted fit & if it turns out less than ideal, could a sleek 3+ box be an option via special order? Thanks so much! (I’m not the original commenter, but I just also happen to be around the same size & similarly confused.) Thanks again! 💞😊

Hi! That is correct! The 3+ Box is available in the Sleek Fit but it's made-to-order and would need about 4-5 weeks for production before shipment. Feel free to email us at fitters@dancer.com if you have any further questions!

@GaynorMindenInc5 жыл бұрын
Hi! A Medium 3+ Box could work great for you. Make sure to adjust your padding as necessary so that you're not using the same from a #4 Box to a 3+. We always say the thinner the toe pad, the better the fit! You should have the shoe fit to your foot and not the toe pad. Hope this helps!
