Why not hire qualified Palestinians who could likely build this for less and much faster than a privately contracted outfit from the US? Put some real and lasting value into it, or is this just another stalling tactic by Joe's team which really doesn't look like it knows how to do anything but deny Israel's blame for the current crisis.

Every time the MSM reports on the efforts to be stagnant they blame Israel. Israel has already proven that they can keep up with the inspections. It's the same problem as always. Its probably less to do with military necessity and more to do with fending off organised pre-palestinian factions in the USA. Hamas has no viable military force left except for threats to kill hostages if theyre attacked. They do have political force, through the media showing civilian casualties if there is an offensive or starving women and children if the siege is maintained. Since Hamas prisoners tend be a little...rotund it shows they arent short of food for the fighters but there is food shortages amongst the refugees, something Hamas is amplifying to exert diplomatic pressure. With Trump energising his base and Biden looking tired the last thing Dems need is a pro-Hamas/wont somebody think of the children coalition running an insurgency in their political rear. This Israelis are prmising to start their next offensive once Ramadan ends (about three weeks) so this keeps the media happy and has a backup temporary port for any refugees after the next round of fighting.

There are able bodied men but the unemployment rate in Gaza has been extremely high for decades Isreal has essentially controlled all trade capability and removed their ability to be self sufficient through trade. There is a college in Gaza so there are highly educated people, but I dont believe they have any trade schools. Most people probably do not have the skill or experience to run a port. Also there are reports that order has completely broken down due to the starvation happening. I do not know how they can possibly stop mobing and looting from the desperate people that will need the aid. It seems arab countries are willing to fund Gaza rebuilding efforts and they are funding peace talks with Isreal, but they are tipping toes around the conflict to prevent getting into a war with Isreal (and likely the US).

@@SpringIsBACK, the siege has to end sometime. Israel is a conscript army for the most part. You cannot deploy conscripts in a Red zone & in static positions that a long siege requires. That's asking for friendly casualties, & panicked conscripts are going to respond with poorly aimed counter-fire, probably into civilian neighbourhoods. What they need is properly trained military police. The Israelis don't have that, or at least not much of that, & their military police S&P are not very civil nor toward the Palestinians they're policing. The IDF MP's policing the newer Israeli settlements infringing into Palestinian territory were already trigger-happy.

I realize this is a logistics video not a political one. I can't emphasize this enough: it is an extraordinarily bad idea to have US personnel so near the conflict zone. The goal of Osama bin Laden in 2001 was not to bring down the towers: it was to bring the US into the Middle East in a military capacity. We fell for it. We brought the targets to them, and they proceeded to IED our troops and civilians 1 by 11. More than 350,000 casualties to IEDs over many years. The Houthis are already attacking with impunity on the other side of the Red Sea, and this will bring targets right to the front door in the Mediterranean. Having an American installation at Gaza almost guarantees it will be attacked. The fog of war means that it will be unclear who dunnit. It could be a false flag attack instigated by the Israelis, by Hamas itself, or by some 3rd, 4th, or Nth interested group. If there are American casualties, the mission would creep to more and more security. Tom Clancy already wrote this book and it was much more fun as fiction.

Politically it makes sense: If Hamas attacks the port they can say "see, we were justified in supporting Israel, these animals won't let their own people eat" If it works they get to score points with the pro palestine crowd and points with Boomers for a logistical feat. I just hope no soldiers get killed for their election. Side note: Who are they going to coordinate on land to distribute the food? Is it going to be a free for all on the beach? What about the hundreds of trucks waiting at the border? Time those truck are forced though, time is up. NETANYAHU isn't a human being regarded as much of a leader, so by pass his azz, force a cease-fire and get necessary aid in.

Friggin psychotic politics are so fu' up...they know all that people will be death in two month, and they know trucks are there but wont let them in...this is probably just a media move like "oh we want to help, so sadly we couldn't reach on time" all the fu psychos behind this politics should be in jail.

The million-dollar question is: once offloaded, will Hamas seize the food, as they have been doing, and take it for themselves or sell it back to the Gazans at an extreme markup? My guess is yes and yes. Agreed, security is a big issue. Thanks for your insights, Sal.

Thank you Sal for the great content. I do think you skipped probably the most complex portion of the operation. How will the food get distributed once on shore? Who will be accepting, securing and distributing the food?

And if that doesn't work you can always fall back on the Mulberry floating docks that worked so well for the allies in the weeks following D-Day in WW2.

Also regarding D-day, my grandad was in the first wave on Gold beach, he said even as they were moving off the beach bulldozers were coming in to fill in shell holes and people were unrolling temporary roadways up the beach...

@@FaycalOuazinewhat has that got to do with my comment? For the record the US has been sending more than $300million in humanitarian aid to Gaza per year for years, Britain and Germany sending about $70million a year, if it wasn't for those countries Palestinians in Gaza would have starved to death years ago.

Interesting. Millions donated to the Palestinian to put in water systems, and none of it was built. In fact, all the pipes sent in by the English Hamas took and cut up to make missiles to fire into Israel. Millions more donated for other infrastructure projects, and hamas kept almost all the money for themselves and very little for the people. Now millions more in food aid is being sent, in spite of the fact that hamas has been pictured standing on food trucks, stopping the people from getting much of it. So can you blame Israel for not wanting to send food and medical aid that will mostly be used to feed the Hamas terrorists well, and medical supplies that will treat far more terrorists so they can fight another day, and very few of Gaza’s regular people? If you doubt this, remember that Hamas controls everything going on in that area. Doesn’t take much thought to predict what will happen to most of the food and meds……..

"not wanting to send food and medical aid that will mostly be used to feed the Hamas" How will the Hostages eat if Hamas has no food? The reality is that Israel's stated goal is to starve the civilians. There is a difference between war and genocide. "remember that Hamas controls everything going on in that area." That is Israel, and Hamas is an odd way to spell Israel.

I wouldn't be building any kind of permanent structure. I'm sure Israel isn't going to want that there so Hamas can take advantage of it in a later date..

You got it wrong. Israel did NOT blockade Gaza. 200 trucks a day at least get in to Gaza every day. Part of the problem is that after the trucks get into Gaza, Israel is done and UNRWA takes over and they allow armed Hamas fighters to hijack a good number of trucks. The crisis in Gaza is NOT THE FAULT OF ISRAEL! I’ve seen them send truck after truck in. I’ve also seen videos of armed Hamas taking the trucks with Gazan civilians fighting with them to stop.

"Humanitarian Daily Ration" MREs are @ $1,600 for a pallet of 480 daily rations on Amazon. That comes out to $3.33 a day per survivor. These are designed to be universal with vegetarian entrees. I see a lot of bulk food deliveries coming off those planes though. It's a lot cheaper to deliver bulk, and they can cook when they're not being bombed out of existence. Water, I assume is a different issue. Israel makes desalination plants. Something for Panama to consider.
