Its probably less to do with military necessity and more to do with fending off organised pre-palestinian factions in the USA. Hamas has no viable military force left except for threats to kill hostages if theyre attacked. They do have political force, through the media showing civilian casualties if there is an offensive or starving women and children if the siege is maintained. Since Hamas prisoners tend be a little...rotund it shows they arent short of food for the fighters but there is food shortages amongst the refugees, something Hamas is amplifying to exert diplomatic pressure. With Trump energising his base and Biden looking tired the last thing Dems need is a pro-Hamas/wont somebody think of the children coalition running an insurgency in their political rear. This Israelis are prmising to start their next offensive once Ramadan ends (about three weeks) so this keeps the media happy and has a backup temporary port for any refugees after the next round of fighting.

I realize this is a logistics video not a political one. I can't emphasize this enough: it is an extraordinarily bad idea to have US personnel so near the conflict zone. The goal of Osama bin Laden in 2001 was not to bring down the towers: it was to bring the US into the Middle East in a military capacity. We fell for it. We brought the targets to them, and they proceeded to IED our troops and civilians 1 by 11. More than 350,000 casualties to IEDs over many years. The Houthis are already attacking with impunity on the other side of the Red Sea, and this will bring targets right to the front door in the Mediterranean. Having an American installation at Gaza almost guarantees it will be attacked. The fog of war means that it will be unclear who dunnit. It could be a false flag attack instigated by the Israelis, by Hamas itself, or by some 3rd, 4th, or Nth interested group. If there are American casualties, the mission would creep to more and more security. Tom Clancy already wrote this book and it was much more fun as fiction.

Obviously this is election year theater. The Democrats are worried about their base and this will give great visuals. Politically it makes sense: If Hamas attacks the port they can say "see, we were justified in supporting Israel, these animals won't let their own people eat" If it works they get to score points with the pro palestine crowd and points with Boomers for a logistical feat. I just hope no soldiers get killed for their election. Side note: Who are they going to coordinate on land to distribute the food? Is it going to be a free for all on the beach? My guess is they are going to try real hard to find a local "partner" to handle shoreside logistics. Most likely Hamas, but they would much prefer an NGO or an Arab nation if they can find one willing (they won't).

Interesting. Millions donated to the Palestinian to put in water systems, and none of it was built. In fact, all the pipes sent in by the English Hamas took and cut up to make missiles to fire into Israel. Millions more donated for other infrastructure projects, and hamas kept almost all the money for themselves and very little for the people. Now millions more in food aid is being sent, in spite of the fact that hamas has been pictured standing on food trucks, stopping the people from getting much of it. So can you blame Israel for not wanting to send food and medical aid that will mostly be used to feed the Hamas terrorists well, and medical supplies that will treat far more terrorists so they can fight another day, and very few of Gaza’s regular people? If you doubt this, remember that Hamas controls everything going on in that area. Doesn’t take much thought to predict what will happen to most of the food and meds……..
