Those who are critical or doubtful of Gaza's Slim's open acknowledgment of God now (and gospel song of mercy) are skeptical because the now emerging image is at odds with the known image. People are most likely looking at the fact that never before during her music career and public life did she ever show a Christian side (if it was really there) .....But now that she is on the verge of going to prison for perverting the course of justice, this side emerges. The skepticisms are therefore not without cause. We all know Kartel's views on Jesus, God and the church. He revealed those views most emphatically in an interview when he declared that he was NOT RELIGIOUS and DID NOT believe in Jesus. Given that's who Kartel says he is, and given Gaza Slim's embracement of him as she does (did), then there must be skepticism because, how could someone, who is not just religious, but DEEPLY RELIGIOUS as Slim now portrays, be so deeply associated with someone so EXTREME in his anti Jesus and anti religion stance as Kartel ...to the extent of carrying out such a seriously illegal act? Don't get me wrong; She may be sincere and telling the truth about her deep and continued attachment to the church and God, but the irony and contradictions are blatantly inescapable. Of course I can hear the responses saying it was just a business association (or loyalty) which am sure holds some truth. Nevertheless, even so it begs the question as to why, never before during her public image portrayal was this manifestation and deep attachment to church and God shown. That is the reason there are doubts about her sincerity. And while on that topic I must make this observation: With Kartel proclaiming that he does not believe in Jesus and religion, isn't it ironic that on the day he was sentenced and upon leaving the court building, the world saw him clearly making the sign of the cross just as Christians do. How ironic??? The sign of the cross has one meaning; a meaning known even outside of the Christian world ...and that is the manifestation and acceptance of the gospel of Jesus Christ. So now we are faced with figuring out which is the real Kartel. Is it the anti Jesus, anti religion Kartel OR the Kartel who, upon a murder conviction publicly made the sign of the cross?

Great comment dak g, but my point is in the last part of your second paragraph. "She might be sincere. And since its not our job as humans to judge they should be a bit more lenient toward her transformation. Because if she is pretending she might be taught a lesson in the process which may cause a true transformation. Also, I was guilty of judging before I saw her perform her set as a fellow musician. I was surprise to realise that most of her music was positive and a positive contribution to the dancehall fraternity and the society. Her song speak on love, sex ofcourse, faithfulness, independence and so on. So she wasn't as raunchy or as illiterate as most of the female artiste in the business. So it shouldnt be as alarming as people are making it seem. Even her dress code was not as bad or nude. Now in regard to her affiliation with Kartel, right or wrong, if she is faithful by nature, it would be hard to seperate that bond, especially considering what he has done for her career. I am a Christian, not as connected to the church as I would like and I am affiliated with non believer, I am straight, and have gay friends, I am in the music business and not a fan of dancehall, but have dj friends. As I said before, The right to judge is not in our hands. And I dont hide to hang out, but leave those who believe they have the power to judge to do so. I have never hear kartel denied christ in an interview, he always seem to beat his way around the answer, leaving controversy. I heard him in a lecture at UWI state that he doesnt get involved in religion, which can be understood as religion and politic can never be resolved. But he uses a lot of biblical context. If you have the link to the video of his disconnection, I would appreciate it. All in all, I really appreciate your comment, and wish more people in here would be as civilized.
