Can you you recommend to me a reputable/trustworthy seller an Alibaba where I can purchase the components to build a fat tire, full suspension electric mountain bike, preferably at a good price? The main thing I'm looking to order is a full suspension fat tire frame (maybe a combo kit is it's affordable enough, with the frame, battery, motor & motor accessories, and forks etc., because I don't have a lot of money, and would even be ok with finishing the rest of it with used parts bought locally. I'm looking to build one with an Ultra M620, so I'm looking for a frame that will receive that motor.. I'm looking specifically for a frame with a built-in battery receiver. If you can help me I'd really appreciate it. It's kind of nerve racking trying to find a trustworthy source. Thanks

Those walk features are also VERY useful when you ride your bike down a sketchy single track path that goes down a steep hill but then you cant ride the bike back up. Not something everyone will need but something i look for on every bike now.

I bought this bike based on your spot on review and love it . I live in the Villages Florida . It’s the largest 55 plus development in the world. 150,000 people, 100 golf courses , over a 100 miles of paved trails . I’m loving this bike here . No one has one . Can you recommend a bike rack that would accommodate the weight and fenders that this bike has ? 👍

I have now put 200 plus miles on my 380 plus. Hands down the best bike I have ever owned. The quality is why you pay big bucks. Sure glad I found a 93 mile used one for $3,200. The price new at $4,750 is a little more than I would pay. Add tax and you are looking at a $5,000 ebike. I realize it is not a cheap Chinese bike but that is a big chunk for one bike. Luckily we found two low mile Gazelles 380 plus and C8 step through our-the-door $6,600 for both bikes. My only complaint the step through C8 I think is a little slow at 20 mph but my wife enjoys it and when we bike together I leave my 28 mph bike in eco so we can ride together.

I think I agree about the fat tire trend on e-bikes comment. Aside from being better in snow and sand, the only main other reason for fat tires is to use it as a budget ride-comfort feature.

Yesterday, I purchased a rad mini step through based on your review. My wife, disabled and 72 years old ,like me, but needs a trike. Could you review 2 or 3 etrikes for people like us. I know it’s probably not your choice but you would be doing a service to many. Also include approx price and link for purchase. There are probably many of your subscribers who ride an ebike, whose better half needs an etrike. Thank you.I was especially impressed when you did the video at the bike show in 2016,( I just last week viewed it) and you seemed to know more about some brands than some of the employees.

Well back, way back for you in 1963 or 64 I got 3 speed rear hub floating transmission connected via a chain into the hub to wire cable to the shifter on the handle bar. It slipped occasionally (was a real nut buster)but it was the best bike I ever had. I ride a ride1up 700 now and am quite pleased with it except for all the shifting and I put a guard on the derailer. Every bike's weak point. I like it and do long rides on it. The belt and basically gazelles whole setup interests me. I also like the inhouse optional second battery. I've been thinking about building my own but that is not kosher with warranties and insurance. The hard part is paying twice as much as I paid for my first new car, a VW bug back in 72'.

If you got the money, buy it. I am 250 pounds and strong. Bike fast easy up hills and against wind. Long range and dud I say fast? I can also pedal without assist. Wish they had Pinion option. Gearing not enough to tackle Rocky Mountain long uphill riding, but good for lesser hills. Great not to clean lube chain or worry about exposed parts. .

I would buy this bike if it had the Bosch Smart System. I can’t see paying the bike’s asking price for the old Bosch motor tech and 500Wh battery it uses. I’d rather buy a Specialized Turbo Vado or Como once they’re available later this year with belt drives.

Just bought the Priority and it is a more petite lighter bike - 50 plus some lbs. Not sure it has the same Envielo or else it is geared lower as it is really difficult to get to 28 mph as it runs out of gearing. Looks the the Gazelle is a more heavy duty ride.

Would this be well suited for San Francisco type areas? Constant shifting up and down hills, to me that “derailer” is perfect for that
@SwiftySanders
@SwiftySanders 3 жыл бұрын
I have this bike and Medeo T10+. I’m not sure which is better yet honestly but I’ve only had it for two days and rode 50 miles. I am definitely debating this myself. Right now I find myself turning up the assist level on hills. That was also the case with the derailleur on my Turbo Creo SL EVO and Medeo T10+ until I figured out the proper shifting. Overall the hub is definitely less efficient but its oddly more satisfying that to shift I just pause on pedaling shift then on the next rotation I can feel the assist kick in.

Also I noticed you mentioned at the very end that you suspect less efficient drivetrain due to the cvt and the belt drive. Any chance you could elaborate a little? Is a belt drive less efficient than a chain?
@sollieutube
@sollieutube 2 жыл бұрын
No it is the CVT I think it’s like 85% vs 93% Efficient for regular chain drive. Don’t quote me, as I’m not sure of the exact percentages, But I remember reading somewhere about it being slightly less efficient. I own a café model go by Electra ( which is owned by Trek) , and I really can’t feel any detectable difference from my Allant+8s which is chain drive.

Part of the efficiency is lost to how the Enviolo CVT works, using a proprietary friction fluid to drive the planetary mechanism instead of meshed cogs.

Given the price and availability of these bikes (as well as Stromer, Riese & Muller, and others) there are other options out there (e.g. e-scooter/moped such as the Super Soco CPX, NIU GTS Pro). Why I looked but won’t get an e-bike like this just for commuting: 1. Expensive to buy, insure, and maintain (the gates belt and front & rear sprockets cost a bomb). Many motorcycle serviceable items are cheap in comparison to a top end bicycle brand. 2. S-pedelec needs to be licensed 3. Less safe in traffic on faster roads (40mph) with speed differential. 4. Security risk - bikes like these are deemed high value and thieves target them. Scooters are not as desirable and less of a risk. A scooter parked on the city street is not going to get much interest while a Gazelle Ultimate C380 with batteries is. Who wants to lug huge chains and batteries around? Also if your Gazelle gets stolen you will have to wait months for a replacement. 5. No gov subsidy (in the UK) for e-bikes but there is for e-scooters. If I was going to use an ebike for commuting and touring (e.g. through Europe) then this e-bike (and it’s cost) makes more sense. In the UK Gazelle dealers don’t even have a range of demo stock. Not their doing but folks paying this amount for a bike should be able to try before they buy.

So basically it’ll take some getting used to for me because of the belt drive. Ease off? You mean lower the gear?
@ElectricBikeReview
@ElectricBikeReview 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Christopher, I often say ease off as it relates to not pressing hard on the pedals to allow the gear to shift into place... or when the motor power fades out as you reach a certain speed. I hope this clarifies, but feel free to identify a timestamp in this video so I can clarify further ;)
@stephenm7361
@stephenm7361 3 жыл бұрын
No, Just ease of your pressure on the pedals momentarily as your rotate the gear shift. You will find the shift moves really easily compared to trying to move it while you are pedalling. You don't need to ease off for long and it soon becomes second nature. Applies to both upshift and downshift.

The thing with the key is totally weird. If you don’t use the integrated lock, someone can take the key and steel your battery. What a bad design. No insurance will pay for this. Some things I wouldn’t accept at this price tag is headlight, 50 Lux is just nothing for such a bike. It should be at least 100 Lux. The Purion display is also something, that don’t matches the price. Like you sayed, the pedals. This is not an MTB or a road bike, where you put your own pedals on. This is a bike that gets used as it is and there for it should have premium pedals. And by the way, it rattles.
@ElectricBikeReview
@ElectricBikeReview 3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I've seen some other frame locks that do allow for key removal when locked or unlocked, and I wish that was the case here. It seems that Gazelle chose lower LUX for the headlight because this is a US-only product and our regulations are less strict. The lights can be turned off, there's no brake light or side mirror... that's all okay with me, but less than what you'd get on a similar European version. I can see why they might have gone with Purion display, given the headlight mount at the center of the handlebar, but there are some alternative mount designs that could accommodate both display and headlight. Good insights Benjamin ;)
