GB is known for their compact folded strollers, so today we compare two of their larger Pockit+ strollers: the All-City and the All-Terrain

I got the Pockit plus all city and I'm very happy. Pros for me are the canopy which covers the whole back of the stroller making it warmer and more windproof. I haven't found any issues with the single wheels at all. Tried them over a variety of surfaces and they did fine. Obviously if you have a stroller with huge wheels (the versatrax in my case), it'll do better on difficult terrains. I wouldn't expect this stroller to be equivalent in terms of challenging terrain performance to anything with much larger wheels. However it's practical. The fold is effortless which appears to be easier than on the GB plus all terrain. You don't have to put the breaks on and you don't have to lock the front wheels either (they don't lock anyway). What's nice is when you unfold the stroller, the breaks are automatically put back on somehow. I would have liked to have a bit more padding in the seat perhaps but you can't have everything. All in all, I'm quite impressed. And in terms of taking it on a flight as carry on, it fits most airlines' dimension restrictions but budget airlines may have an additional fare to take "non-tiny" carry on items of that size but it still fits their maximum dimensions on that certain higher fare. For me, the size difference vs the all terrain did not factor in the decision because they're almost the same weight and the all city's size that is a bit larger (while still being very small) is accepted at least on most airlines (all the ones I checked). Your video also helped having noted some wobble in the handles of the all terrain. The all city's handles do wobble less and appear to be more sturdy. I want to also add that my all city goes down to a 35 degree angle so it's a 55 degree recline from the wall when using your method. Not sure why you're only getting a 23 degree recline. Thank you for the helpful video.

Just wanted to note that I have put the all city under the seat in an airplane several times. I’ve had flight attendants tell me I’ll need to gate check it until they see it folded down in a tote bag. They can’t make you check it if you show that it fits the dimensions under the seat. Also IIRC the all terrain can be folded without folding the back wheels in, and that makes it easier to fold and unfold but then gets the same folded dimensions as the all city. We *love* our all city stroller. Took it to Puerto Rico and did not have trouble with cobblestones there. Just found out it even accommodates car seats! Woop woop!

You are correct, we have the pockit air AT, the back wheel folding is optional for ultra compact stow away, when left extended it will stand up on the wheels, and front wheel locking is not a must, just lift the front end up slightly and the wheels will straighten from gravity, then fold away.

The All-City has a slightly smoother ride due to the slightly larger diameter wheels (which I failed to mention), and the front wheel suspension. That being said, the single wheels are more prone to getting stuck in soft dirt/sandy soils and cracks that run parallel to the direction of travel. The All-terrain on the other hand spreads the weight out a little more with the extra 4 wheels, despite them being a little smaller.

The All-City fits inside of a 2900cu inch backpack, but it takes up almost all of the space. The All-Terrain has about 4 inches at the top of the bag for storing snacks or something. Both would easily fit in an overhead compartment. I'd say a child 4 feet tall and 55 lbs would fit into both.

The All-terrain does have a better recline, and we bought some thin dark material to Velcro on to the hood to close those openings and block more light. I’m not aware of any way GB has made to hook two of them together, though some clever home engineering could make that possible.

Done the test with mobile ruler and the recline was with 10° more on city than on all terrain even if with that zip down. Strange. City unfolds/folds so easy and all terrain much harder. Even got an accident-blue nail, when unfolding(placed finger between 2 bars) All city seems having much more quality than all terrain that seems to fall apart. I have just ordered an all terrain as I had the mothercare xss which was designed by gb (obviously not made anymore). Well, silly me - loaded the buggy with about 50 kilos of shopping and a 22 kilo child and a wheel snapped off. So went shopping for the most similar I could find. Just wanted to say that on the Mothercare xss, we just gaffa taped the foot thingy back on after snapping and worked a treat for the whole time we had it (nearly 2 years). And i know i know, a 5 year old shouldn't need a stroller. But we can spend hours and hours and hours (often 12) out of the house and by the end of it , she gets tired ... Thank you for this review and for the comments. Glad I stuck with the closest model to the mothercare xss I could find. It would have been the pockit air - but that has been discontinued. So this all terrain looks to be the closest now. Just don't load it with 50 kilos worth of shopping on top of a big(ish) child!! lol It has been great though. I don't have a car and live in a city with tubes and buses. This (the mothercare xss - equvalent being pockit air) goes in an antler tundra trolley rucksack and fits in perfectly, so most of the time, peeps are none the wiser that we have a buggy stashed away in there. @@Skudoosch

Would you recommend the All-City for traveling to Europe? With the suspension and because many cities still have cobblestone roads/walkways. I am looking for someone compact I can then put into a backpack carrier. Thanks
@Skudoosch
@Skudoosch 3 жыл бұрын
It’s large enough it takes a large backpack to contain it. Honestly the only thing that will do well on cobblestone is a jogger with inflatable tires. I foresee the single wheel of the all-city getting stuck in between the cobblestones. The double wheel of the all-terrain would avoid this issue, but no matter what it won’t be a very smooth ride.
@Skudoosch

Personally I’d use the all-terrain or normal pocket+ for international travel due to it being smaller and several pounds lighter, which if you’re carrying it in a backpack for a while is definitely noticeable.

@BuckreetInsurance
@BuckreetInsurance 5 ай бұрын
I don't know what the designers were thinking, but I'm guessing the double wheels (8 total) is what gives the All-terrain, it's all-terrain capability. There's enough flex in the frame, it takes out some of the bumpiness. And the All-city's suspension is only in the front, so I'm not sure it actually makes for a smoother ride, but instead allows the front caster wheels to flex and then pop over small terrain features without stopping the stroller's front wheels dead in their tracks and tipping the stroller forward on the ground.

Now that you've had both for some time. Is all the terrain easier to push on cobblestone or uneven roads? I know theoretically the double wheels could help but I've been reading that both strollers have similar performance on rough surfaces. Thanks
@Skudoosch
@Skudoosch 2 жыл бұрын
Rough surfaces like cobblestone or sidewalks with stamping/or deep grooves is problematic for any stroller, but more so for the all-city, given it’s single front caster can catch a groove and almost come to a stop. If you’re pushing the stroller too fast and most of the momentum goes into the front wheel that just sank into the groove or crack, it could lead to a crash or a broken wheel. The all terrain is less likely to have this issue because the double wheels won’t fall into the same crack at the same time unless it’s HUGE.

No front bar; there's a rubber strap on for the child's feet on the All-Terrain and a basket lip on the All-City. I personally think a good balance of compactness and usefulness goes to the All-City. We use the All-Terrain exclusively for travel.

Hello great review, I'm am currently going on a trip to Puerto Rico I have a three year old..... We are currently using the Maclaren Quest Arc stroller which goes up to 55 pounds my daughter has alot of room to grow with that.. I love the all City but the only thing throwing me off is it doesn't have a foot rest and I wouldn't want my daughter feet to be dangling and the all-terrain just has that opening I don't like that with that opening bugs can bite her up......... does your child have that problem the dangling of feet do you have a solution what would you recommend I hope you get back to me.
@Skudoosch
@Skudoosch 2 жыл бұрын
The child’s heels can rest on the front of the basket under the stroller, but you’re right, there’s no great place for them to rest their feet without dangling. I believe that’s the reasoning they included the adjustable thigh/leg rest that can be adjusted up or down to keep the child’s feet from dangling or dragging. As they grow you adjust it upward. Due to the design of the all-city and the engineering to not only have a larger basket, but to be as small as possible in the fold meant leaving out a footrest.

@@devannafebres2712 the all-City. It does have the suspension in the front wheels but given a more rigid frame, wider seat and enclosed canopy, I feel it would be more comfortable to sit in (for the child) and easier to push, as long as the wheels don’t get caught in a rut. Since the wheels on the all-city have a larger diameter, they can roll over lips in the sidewalk easier too. And because it’s frame is slightly more rigid, the all-city can handle the 55lbs weight limit much easier than the all-terrain, but both are safely rated for that weight. We just notice the all-terrain flexes a lot with uneven terrain with my son in the seat.

While we love the all city for stability and it’s closed sunshade, the all-terrain is very flexible, meaning when you pull backward on the right handle the frame will flex and the right front wheel will lift off the ground a little to go over bumps. It is also very compact and can be thrown into any carry-on which we did in the airport. When we were transferring between planes we will get it out and put the kid in it, but then right before we board we fold it back up and throw it back in the carry-on to fly. It’s got the edge on the all-city that way.

Did you measure the recline angle for both of them? You said the all terrain declined more, but how many degrees? 145? More? Less? Thanks a lot, most helpful video on these I have found!

How do these do on bumpy grass ?
@Skudoosch
@Skudoosch 2 жыл бұрын
The All-Terrain is better than most. The flexible frame makes uneven surfaces easier to traverse with some back pressure on the appropriate handle. You can pull back on the right handle to raise the left front wheel off the ground slightly and visa versa. The all-city doesn’t flex quite as much but it’s pretty good at it too.

Barely. When folded, it’s almost too big for a carry on bag.

1. With the all Terrain you don't have to lock or fold the back tires, you just press both white buttons 2. When unfolding keep both white buttons, it opens in a snap.
@Skudoosch
@Skudoosch 2 жыл бұрын
Correct on both, though if you don’t fold the rear wheels it will not fold up as small (for car trunks not a big deal), and after we wore our’s in, it does unfold with a quick jerk while both buttons are pressed. At the time of filming it was brand new and not wanting to be too aggressive it was much stiffer.

Would the all city be ok for planes?
@Skudoosch
@Skudoosch 3 жыл бұрын
Yes, but it takes up an entire carry-on or large backpack if your idea is to conceal it before you board, as most airlines will have the ramp worker at the end of the jet way to check any strollers under the plane that they see coming on board. That means you’ll need a carryon that’s basically empty when you’re using the stroller in the terminals. The All-Terrain is 5 inches shorter, so it does fit in a slightly smaller bag, or leaves a little room in the carryon for other things. We needed it for air travel so we went with the smaller All-Terrain.

I feel like anyone looking at the Pockit+ are better off compromising a few pounds and a few inches for the All-Terrain. Anyone looking at a Pockit+ probably won’t be happy with the size and weight of the All-City, because It is a big step up in function at the cost of lost space and weight. I do like it a lot more, but I needed something that fit inside of a normal backpack.

@@Skudoosch if we do have a backpack that fits it, would you say the all city is better suited for travelling in Europe where there are lots of cobble stones?
@Skudoosch
@Skudoosch 3 жыл бұрын
Ken Wu yes and no. The rigid construction will help, but the single wheels get stuck easier that the doubles. Even with the suspension, it may not feel as smooth on uneven cobblestone like stroller with double wheels would. Soft dirt or grass are also easier to push a stroller over if it has double wheels.

Why is it called All terrain? Can you comfortably take baby on let's a dirt road in it?
@Skudoosch
@Skudoosch 3 жыл бұрын
Hard packed dirt is no problem. A grass lawn, not as easy. The 8 wheels vs 4 does give it more surface area with the ground, but without jumping up to a bulky jogger with inflatable wheels I’m not sure any stroller is “all-terrain”.

Is the all terrain good for hiking?
@Skudoosch
@Skudoosch 2 жыл бұрын
I have yet to find a stroller that’s good for hiking unless it’s a maintained path that’s smooth. Joggers with the larger inflatable tires do the best, but if there are rocks, roots or steps on the trail, a carrier you wear is the best only viable option from what I’ve found.
