I watched some of the game awards and saw Phil's double playing the philutes. That shit gave me a chuckle, Phil's double was getting down as the real Phil looked like as you said ( someone shit in his cereal )

Surprised to see the Saturday Grinds Bite but yea, I have similar complaints about the 2024 VGA, but I think it's massive improvement over VGA 2023 and addressing feedback of that year's “Wrap it Up” controversy. So it being longer is the result They use the ads to pay bills, so that's somewhat unavoidable. But better communication of when an ad break would take place is better. They should Axe Esports and Content creator awards. Those game awards are already celebrated at their own event. Best sports, adaptation, and racer should be in the be sideshow read off. Best music, and Family award should definitely be mainstage. I think the award show should be earlier as well to avoid running so late. I think the beginning half and ending portion of the stage had really solid to fantastic announcements. It is a massive improvement over 2023 and it was genius for the puppets to roast Keighley. I hope they are brought back again. Honestly I think Keighley was nervous because of the streak of poorly received shows between Summer Game Fest (2023, 2024) and VGA (2023). I think this event could have boosted his confidence because this by majority of gaming social media was very well received. Now Summer Game Fest needs to catch up in quality. I'd wait before suggesting another Host to see if this Keighley out his shell. Personally I'd give it a 9/10. Congratulations Astrobot and Asobi. Hopefully he takes in all feedback. As for the Xbox stuff, what hasn't been said? All been nonsense bruh. And now McCaffrey, Warren, Parris, and Destin are trying to pivot their opinions and thoughts along with Xbox's pivot. All of them were excited and very aggro with that Bethesda and Activision acquisitions and confidently boasted exclusivity. They're adamant about the whole industry collapse because they can’t accept they bet on the wrong horse and this isn't a 2D chess move. That this is a pivot because they fucked up.

It’s all but impossible to avoid the fact that Geoff’s show is a joke. He hands out trophies like free samples at the super market. To many advertisements and to much pomp and circumstance, nobody cares about snoop dog being there and nobody cares about 21 pilots being there. It’s a video game award show yet the video games got side lined and they focused more on showing Amazon Prime codes down your throat. Geoff’s a joke and we need another show in town cause this ain’t it chief. The one good thing I’ll say is that the GOTY nominations got huge increase in sales thats all.

Best thing you can do and along with anyone else who feels the same about this game awards stuff is to just not watch it. I always seeing people saying the show is trash, yet then say they are watching it for the game trailers 😂 like they can't just see the trailers on KZbin a little later.

No. Geoff didn't force Phil to sit in the front row. Phil wanted to be there. Phil is a PR guy, and he wants his face, the face of Microsoft Gaming, to be out there, to keep himself relevant. That's why he has to be in every picture. Phil doesn't care that Microsoft didn't have a GOTY nominee (if Phil cared about games, then Microsoft would be making great games). He's not mad or upset at winners walking by him to get up on stage. Those emotions are fans projecting their own emotions onto him. All Phil cares about is being in the public eye and staying relevant. My guess is that Phil wants to be the next Microsoft CEO, after Satya, so everything he does is in service of that goal. So, Phil sits in the front row, because he believes that he's that important.

Although i am a ps guy, but i was surprised it was game of the year - astro sold 2 (maybe 3 million) eldern ring 20 million as well as black myth - personally it should have been rebirth, but i thought due to low sales it would not win, but hey how - thanks for the show

Necromunda Hired Gun it's a fps in Warhammer universe, in terms of the mechanics, it's doom + Titanfall on a budget, but pretty good. If it's on sale, it's ok.

The Game Awards are paid off. It's just a marketing tool. Sony was going to pay for the Elden Ring DLC to win until the backlash occurred. Then Geoff and Sony decided to switch GOTY to Astro Bot. That's not difficult to figure out. And Stellar Blade got snubbed because of the controversy that surrounded it. Like Hogwarts Legacy got snubbed because of controversy. It's all about marketing and PR. You just have to remember that there are huge corporations behind these games and awards shows, and this is how corporations work. They're all about manipulating the public. And if you either cheered a game winning an award or was disappointed that a game didn't get an award, then congratulations, they successfully manipulated your emotions.
