I'd keep every unique PvP IV mon even if I catch non-meta mons, but In terms of building pvp mons and saving stardust, always prioritize on investing in meta mons before non-meta mons. There are a lot of non-meta mons, but it's a good habit to hold them in storage due to new move updates from either upcoming GBL seasons or community day with new moves that could potentially make them turn meta in the future.

That's what I do now, when Wooloo was first in the wild years ago dubwool was absolute trash so I transferred all of them, then once it got double kick it became one of the best safe swaps, so now I always save pvp ivs mons even if theyre not meta relevant now

10/10 content! I would recommend for raid attackers, level up to around level 35 (when it starts to cost 5k dust to level up).

Good advise to use your coins for raid pass boxes. If you want to be able to compete in master league as a free to play, you should only use the green passes to raid master league relevant legendaries. Incubators are just bad. Don't buy them if you focus on pvp. You will get a few incubators from special research and showcases that you can use if there is good hatch event.

I typically for GL throw away anything that is not high IV. I like to keep only pokemon that are ranked above 30. For Ultra league I am a bit more lenient. I some times keep a PVL lvl 100 mon. It depends on how good the mon is. For master league I have finally partially built a team of Xerneas Hondo, Mewtwo about 15/15/14 and Dragonite 14/15/15. In addition I have a Metagross Hondo built partially. I have a few other Hondos that could potentially be built for Master League. GL is the simplest to build and keep. I am level 42 and probably be level 43 EOD today as I am close to getting there about 12k XP away. I finally have about 2.5M stardust reserves for PVP mons that I keep to ready for catch cup. My PVP teams are fairly stable now for the 3 leagues to keep me around 50% win rates. GL is where I climb and special cups are climbing. I reached Veteran finally last season thanks to Catch cup. I rarely use Elite TMs. I typically wait for community days for the right moves. I finally have a GL#53 Medicham, but I am using a GL78-5/12/15 mon. Medicham is in all my GL teams. I switch with Lantur, Bastiodon, Noctowl, Trevenant. I keep these teams fairly stable as I have noted what SirLarsMed says, learn to use the mons and understand the matchups. So to summarize, my rule is: GL - Only top 30 PVP mons. I am not so worried about mirror matches. As long as I can keep it close. UL - Only top 100 PVP mons. ML - Hondos and 99% mons. I transfer when there are XL candy guarantee.

my general rule of thumb is if it’s a 50k dust 3rd move and not a mon that gets heavy xl, i usually don’t wait til i get a super good pvp iv ones. if it’s like a swampert or something and you don’t have one, it’s not like a 10/10/10 is going to be so bad that it’s not worth using. it’s just gonna struggle depending on the matchup

For my Storage, I would name a 0/15/9 Galarian Stunfisk to be "Ⓖ㊹" instead of "Stunfis⓪⑮⑨⁵³". That way, I can put more information next to g44 such as move types. The stat product rankings rarely change anyway. What use would I have for the total IVs for PvP anyway? And even for hundos with the redundant name ⑮⑮⑮¹⁰⁰, it would take up six characters when I can just name it "Ⓜ①". I think if you can play with the naming system well, you can be more effective in GBL. My g44 Galarian Stunfisk is named "Ⓖ㊹Os㉗oor12★" with the purpose, stat product ranking for specific GBL purpose, types, level, moveset types, charge bar counts, and a star to mark that no further mods will be done.

Yeah I sometimes go R1GL, R39UL just to know Rank and League but I often like to see the numbers so I can rank check a bunch without having to go into them

I have more than 90 tags and most of the time I use only three to four tags everyday to separate the wheat from the chaff. But there's always more to learn! Running shadow gligar iv spreads through the matrix and constantly my High attack stat shadow gligs outperforming higher stat production builds. the 1-2 extra damage on each wingattack add up. i also went night slash>aerial ace to add some dice rolls into the games, snagging that boost makes dig nearly Ohko a lot of its soft checks, severely threatens S Aslash, wing attacks through rank 1 medichams (gotta shield up though) nightslash energy cost makes it lot smoother on baiting shields and retaining enough to dig after. my elo isnt amazing though at mid 2k T . T

Great video! Very logical and useful. The only part that didn’t make sense to me was “ what if I go on a master league spending spree(after grinding XLs I currently don’t have) and spend 5 million dust at once, then I would only have 8 million dust left.” 🤔 But again, great video.

After this video I built up that medicham (475,000 dust), a shadow kanto ninetales and a powder snow shadow alolan sandslash. I dropped 800,000 dust in total. It goes really fast.

I caught a Rank 1 Meditite during Psychic Week '22. Finally collected enough xl candy for the Medicham during Psychic Week '23. I only dabble in GBL, but I question whether to power it up at all now that Rank 1 has a target on its back.

If you don’t have one yet, then yes build it up. If you already have one built, do a matrix battle sim on pvpoke to see if the rank 1 gets you any additional wins. If not, screw it. If yes, consider if it’s worth the 200-400k dust it would cost to build a second one

For ML some 14 HP is functional the same as 15 as hp are rounded. Check an iv calculator to see what is the HP. Also not sure if search string was mentioned to filter for gl and ul but it's very useful

Yeah it's stressful, there is no indication if the pokemon are being kept for GL or UL. I find tags super useful, couldn't manage without them.

is rank 1 always the best though? is it not worth keeping a lower ranked one that sacrifices 1-2 stamina for atk/def? I struggle with this since in my mind, the extra atk/def will come in use more often than the extra hp.

The sims for some Pokémon are not “real”. It assumes you get a shield with a bait move and land like close combat or brave bird, etc. turn off baiting or check the 0 shield stats and see if it’s still that high
