Thing is.. Your money in the bank lends itself to the stability of the treasury, through the banking system. The interest it makes, the investments the bank uses it all to secure. Your Money doesn't really exist once it's in your account until you want to withdraw it. Hence these kind of hoops are created to jump through. Banks would be far happier without people getting in the way.. simply the way it is. And has almost always been in modern digital banking frankly. A countries worth isn't just measured in its gold reserves, it's what's in the banks. And Gov hates hard currency. We're seeing a push to digitize all currency, more control for Gov.

Governments that spend money like drunken sailors. Governments that are trillions of dollars or pounds in debt with no hope of ever repaying any of it back. Governments that tax people into hopelessness and despair. And through digital technology and tyranny Governments want to track and trace the everyday spending habits of their everyday citizens.
