Nothing, not one word in the holy Bible has ever harmed me in any way, but has only brought me healing, hope and direction. The Word of God only heals and brings salvation to the lost and hurting world. The Lord's Prayer is not problematic, sinful men are problematic! It is evil men who molest children, God the Father is holy and God is our healer, God is love!! NOTHING in God's Word does harm to mankind, but on the contrary His word brings salvation and hope to the broken. Only God can heal us and He heals us through His word! I agree 100% with what these two gentlemen said. I despair when I go to a CofE church now. I feel so uncomfortable, so at a loss as to what is going on, so horrified at the vandalism of the prayers, the scriptures, the services that I go less and less. I have been going to church for 60 years and it has changed beyond all recognition and it is no longer the comforting, familiar place that I loved so much. A new version of the Lord's prayer was forced upon us recently and all I could do was sit and cry. Yet another faithful churchgoer has been driven away.

As someone who was abused by my 'father' as a child, I did have an issue with the 'Our Father' in the Lord's prayer at one time, but, I have since come to terms with it and no longer make that connection. Our Father in heaven is nothing like the earthly 'fathers' who abuse their children. For me, the Biblical version of the prayer is the only one I will ever say. Any attempt to try and change it is just another attack on the Christian faith.
