English people tend to be gullible and believe anything politicians and Tory propaganda media say, even if reality says the opposite. Just so the country can stay USA lapdogs with an economy closely linked with USA banks/international bankers/war machine, encouraging people live in greed and debt. Like how people believed that Farage wanted to leave the EU for the good of British people, when he was paying his foreign wife on tax payers expenses and hiding money in foreign tax havens. Then as soon as people voted to leave the EU he resigned, to leave people out the EU with Tories in power, who only work for a few rich people. Nobody remembers UKIP originated from the French born James Goldsmith, whose German Jewish family changed their name to sound British. Who thought politicians after Thatcher weren't doing enough to make the rest of the world hate Britain. From Ireland one side, Europe on the other side, and the rest of the UK to hate England. Scotland luckily have devolution to give them more independent rights away from London, so they have politicians that counteract Tory policies. Scottish people now have free university and prescriptions, while England is nothing more than USA lapdog encouraging people to live in debt, with English students being £50,000 in debt. Scotland can look to a brighter future away from USA lapdog England, and they can be more like the rest of north Europe and Scandinavia, with politicians who work for the people and society, and less people use credit cards.

Every society pretty much has had slavery but only one invested massive resources, including many lives, to end the slave trade (and only one fought a massive civil war to end it). I have no problem with warts and all exploration of the British involvement but that is only part of the story. As you point out, we don’t hear much about the roles of non western countries. I wonder too, if this is really about the evil of slavery, why we are not celebrating Wilberforce and others? We never hear of him. Perhaps it doesn’t serve the desired purpose.

It simply doesn't fit the narrative. Also, you hear NOTHING about the fact that EVERY nation has had slavery, including their OWN people being kept as slaves, depending on their status in society. If it doesn't fit the woke narrative, then they don't want it spoken about.

Likening the current re-writing of history to the Arthurian legends is a perfect analogy. They were created (and the English St Edmund was replaced by the Greek St George) to place Norman culture into English history, replacing true English (Saxon) culture and history. The country was always 'Normanish', just embrace it... This is exactly the stunt being pulled on us now.

@@hmq9052 - That's the point though. If your sole source of historical 'fact' were the Arthurian legends it had already been 'Normanish' for centuries by then. The country wasn't 'black' until the 1950's either.

@@martindunstan8043 People these days are so righteous about such terms. Words such as "poof" or variations thereof were almost invariably just slang terms with no menace behind them. It has to be said that rather a lot of homosexuals don't exactly help themselves these days with some of their behaviour or arrogance. I should know as I've been on the wrong end of a lot of this but I am certainly not talking about all or even most gays but I feel that this had to be said. Things are going bonkers in western society.
