I'm from Tony's electorate. He is a solid good guy - always the first to step in (with no fanfare) and help (volunteer Fire Brigde, Surf Rescue, cake stalls etc), speaks straight as an arrow, present at every fund raiser for good causes (even when there was no press or political benefit) - the sort of guy you'd want next to you in the trenches. When he walked down the street or paddled out into the surf, he got respect and thumbs up (always G'Day Tony - never good morning Mr Abbott, or hello Mr Prime Minister). Unfortunatley due to high property values, people from the city moved into Tony's coastal electorate, and a Soros/union funded outfit called GetUp, arranged protestors and busses of multiple voters (witnessed with my own eyes) and he was voted out (of the safest conservative seat in the country). The UK is lucky (very lucky) to have Tony involved in UK affairs. Australia is much diminished for his absence.

You cannot do a thing about it. The UK signed the UN global compact in 2018. In it 63 countries signed over complete control to the United Nations. Article 17 guarantees the right for employment, housing health care, education and much more - as a PRIORITY over native citizens. Obviously the government and the media have conveniently forgotten this.

@@davidjma7226 - Border Force employees usually cite (I think it is) ECJ legislation that Britain signed on to - so that the moment a migrant claims asylum he’s basically untouchable. Either way, the only way to deactivate these loopholes seems to be to declare a state of emergency. Note also what the Poles did back in December 2021 at the Belarusian border - making it illegal to cross and claim asylum except at authorised points. Anyone who did immediately got deported. Abbott was a career politician. Claiming otherwise after losing his seat and becoming unemployable in Australia is gross hypocrisy. Abbott was a cynical political opportunist, his cause was self advancement and when he became prime minister he had no plan and no mandate to do anything other than “stop the boats”. It took him over 12 months after becoming prime minister to come up with a positive persona/agenda (that lasted a single news cycle) declaring that he wanted to be known as “the infrastructure prime minister”. He is not remembered for any infrastructure, only for being a tricky, nasty politician.

I remember a talk with Graham Richardson, a man who commands respect from both sides of the political aisle, who said that Mr Abbot was one of the smartest, most loyal and principled people he knew but that he was just too honest to survive in the cesspool that is modern politics. If those were his failings, I would take them in a heartbeat over the brand of narcissism that Turnbull introduced after he usurped Abbott. The jury is still out on Albo too but I hope he can forge his own legacy and not fail by trying to be all things to all people.

As a Brit living in Australia, I think Tony Abbot was a fantastic leader and PM. He was hounded out by his party because of their worry about woke I think. He was accessed of being sexist and old fashioned in his ways. Rubbish, he is just a guy with principles. But he did nothing but good for the country, I would have him back in charge today if I could. Did you know that even as PM he still did he stint as a life saver and a rural fire service volunteer. Australia had a policy years ago called the White Australia policy. The problem was with one word “White.”If they had called it the cultural cohesion policy it probably would’ve been okay. A policy that seeks to make sure migrants fit in in terms of language, religion and values isn’t a bad thing. But unfortunately in the early 70s a leftist government was elected. The first thing they did was get rid of the white Australia policy. It was a racist they said. And here we are. Sydney now is unrecognisable - it is like the third world. The Chinese have bought up the real estate and the Indians have made sure wages have stayed low. Where I live is predominantly Asian. The only “ white” men I ever see are the homeless.
