I'm with the farmers but would love to see a breakdown of the crowds into food producing farmers, landowners who don't actively farm and farmers who do not produce food. The public might be surprised who much land is owned by those who don't farm. A huge amount of food is produced by tenant farmers. Also worth remembering many siblings don't want to farm but they still want their share from mummy and daddy tax free, which also affects the one remaining farming sibling. i drive lorry's and pick up produce from farms to factory's almost every day.....i asked a few farmers what does a fall 28-29 tones of potato's get the farmer and they told me about 4-5k depending on the potato....and this year some of the farms i went to were having bad yields due to the weather, kind of crazy the gov want that land back so bad they willing to pull apart farming...and lets not even talk about the NI increase that needs be paid etc talk about just throwing in the 1-2 punch but hey I'm sure there some lefties out there who just singing from the rooftops about how great labour is punishing the rich farmers but i wonder if the same people will be crying when food prices rise and jobs are reduced.....but hey we all know they will all go into hiding or swap sides when it start to negatively effect them! wired that the loudest supporters go quite or delete there media accounts thinking that means there invisible the minute things are going bad for them!

There isn’t enough money coming in to pay inheritance tax, a 5 million pound farm may only take in 100,000 a year , the machinery is very expensive, costs have doubled but only get the same for there wheat as they did 35 years ago! The cash is not there to pay £1m in inheritance tax therefor a good chunk of the farm needs sold to pay the tax bill making the farm unviable, it’s just land that they tend to for future generations to produce cheap wholesome food! You’re thinking wow £5m! Well a average farm is 300acre and prime arable is £10,000 a acre so that’s £3m , combine could be £500,000 , farmhouse, buildings,renewables, equipment, livestock, it soon gets to £5m, £1m threshold is a smallholding with 20 acres a horse and a few sheep, not a working farm , if this sticks it will affect 70% of family farms.
