Just a thought: Labour, criticised the Tories when they were in power about mentioning withdrawing the winter fuel payment to pensioners. The Labour party stated that up to four thousand pensioners would die if the Tories proceeded. The Tories dropped the notion. However, as the Labour government have now withdrawn the payment, and they know many thousands of pensioners will die as a result, can Labour be charged with pre-meditated murder?

THEY ARE NOT MEANS TESTING for the winter fuel payment. It is across the board un entitlement if you don't get pension credit. What they don't seem to realise is if you get pension credit it opens the door to other payments, which could lead to an extra 3k pa. What it actually does is put those pension credit pensioners with more income than those who just missed out on a one off winter fuel payment. So they aren't protecting the less well off. If they needed a blanket ban they should have took it away from those who still pay 40% tax. They could afford to lose 300 quid. If not do a proper means test and they will find the reality of what they are doing.
