Difficult but not unprecedented. They weren't having to fight the fires while bombs were raining down as during the Blitz.

Strangely enough, I was watching a clip of Julia Hartley-Brewer talking to a climate change activist and a map showing the fires around London was flashed up. My instant thought was 'that pattern cannot be accidental'. I live in South west France and further south they often have fires during the summer. As with fires in the Gironde at the moment, they always start in one place and then spread. The only time they have multiple starting points is when they have been set deliberately.
