How many people have a full plan to recover from a total loss of electronic access? I've tried to get my family to take it seriously, and to at least have a spare device at a friends house, but they all laugh at me. A friend got arrested on suspicion of something last year. They took his computer, and did not give it back for six months. He was released the next day and considered uninvolved. That's if you aren't charged. You may never get your stuff, or your families stuff, back if they take it with some charge following. So I consider myself suitably intimidated. We never had free speech in the first place, they just didn't care what we said, which is not the same thing. Think of Tommy Robinson. Plenty of others over the years. If they notice you, they can ruin you. Unless you have a great deal of money to go to court with great defence. I don't intend to go into debt myself. Not worth it.

That ex Labour adviser literally told that woman from the church that she needs to check her thoughts and that is the problem right there. He has already decided she isn’t allowed an opinion because it not in line with his beliefs. There a poignant poem written after the holocaust about not speaking up for others who are taken for their opinion until the day they came for him and there was no one left to challenge what was happening. We are far closer to this as our reality than we care to acknowledge.
