About a year ago I ended up jerry-rigging a similar setup for my work duty belt. Standard Bianchi 2.25" duty belt. Got rid of the aweful coplock buckle, threw on a cobra buckle instead. Got rid of the standard inner belt & belt keepers, bought a hypalon belt from snake eater tactical (male side velcro pointing out). Duty belt goes over that. Easy peasy. Bought another hypalon belt with female side velcro pointing out (then turned inside-out) to go over the other one when I take the rig off (because car seat snags male velcro) so no snag. Solid setup. No belt keepers.

Putting the hook on the outer belt makes more sense to me because the loop material is a natural wear item and it degrades over time. It's much cheaper to buy a replacement inner belt and less downtime for the end-user. Plus I always wear an undershirt tucked so the hook never comes into contact with my skin.
@Troubl3_Actual Жыл бұрын
Exactly. Also carried the Ronin belt for 10 days straight in the field. Never once had a problem with hook against skin, and if there ever was one can quickly adjust unless you are constantly within 25meters of bad guys. Different strokes I guess.

I was super lucky and was able to pick up a belt when they first dropped. Going from another big name belt I was amazed at how close the belt sat to the inner belt and how natural the belt felt. I also have been running the Ronin Tactics mag pouches and wonder how they compare to the Haley strategic pouches.

@@Chrisblau I wouldn’t be surprised if tegris becomes standard in belts. I know the ferro concepts uses it, but to my knowledge the GBRS is the only belt using it as the mounting platform. As I drive from client to client, I'll be in and out of my car every hour. My concern is the hook sticking to my car seat. I know you said theres a cover but you think in my case perhaps having the loop on the inner would be better? As I can see taking the cover on and off every hour could get pretty annoying. A belt is just a belt. Depending on how you set it up is what defines it. An example of a range belt would generally be a thinner belt with a holster a tourniquet and a few mag pouches where as a battle belt would generally be thicker belt and have additional equipment such as a first aid kit, drop pouch, stuff to serve in a single fight. Then there is the war belt, Its heavy due to the extra equipment such as extra mag pouches, grenades, canteen, multitool. Sometimes shoulder straps are needed to help hold it up or an additional pad under the belt for cushioning this thing is what you take into war to serve you in multiple battles. hope this makes sense.

why did GBRS flip the velcro? The same reason they had LBTC cut the Tegris in squares vs circles...because their belt is so closely related to Ferro Concepts (which they rep'd for a while) that they had to do something slightly different to keep from having a trademark lawsuit on their hands. I’m not telling anyone how to live their life, but a good old fashion battle belt with elastic suspenders is still probably the most versatile option. Doing helo stuff? Cool, you can put a carabiner anywhere and hook your pig tail into it. Doing a hoist or repel? Cool, use a leg sling and pocket it when you’re done. Battle belts work over rain gear and arctic gear, and the extra movement is great when you’re in and out of vehicles all the time. Web gear/battle belts was the thing back in the day, then combat vests and Ranger racks were the thing, then battle belts again, now it’s two piece belts, and my guess is that before long, we’ll be back to the good old fashion battle belt.

Never mind lol. I spoke too soon. You said it at 13:10.

4:00… if it’s on your belt line… against your pants… how is it scratching you?
@Chrisblau3 жыл бұрын
Because no matter how “perfectly” you get the belt on the inner belt there is still some over lap and can scratch you. I tuck in my undershirt so it never happens but it has happened

$250 for a duty belt isn't so bad, I was looking at Blue Alpha Gear / Blue Force Gear and their belts can reach $300. A Safariland multi gun holster is also on my wishlist.

will have to check it out man this was just my personal experience TYR is here in phoenix so ill have to check it out man 👊🏼

@@Chrisblau Not knocking the GBRS belt in the least. I like the “sleeve” portion. Without a sleeve, like the Tyr setup, the hook side does get caught on clothes and can scratch your arms. I may have to bite the GBRS bullet and try that out too.
