I wanted to recap my experiences with the GBS Zero so far, use that as a spring board to explain why I'm building an MK Indy, and how that's shaping my component choices for the new build. A bit long but I wanted to lay this all out in a single video.

I do miss my Lotus 7 replica, I have a sweet spot for an old UK replica called a DAX Rush as it can be speced using a Ford Sierra RS Cosworth 4x4 transmission and let face is a Cosworth engine would be awesome but both rare as hens teeth now. MK Sports car make some great cars looking forward to updates.

You had yours pre-assembled at factory and painted too then I guess. You aren't alone with a lot of the same comments, positive and not so positive.

Had them both, great cars the mk handles better, in my opinion ,but love them both.

That is what I'm building a Locost w/Duratec 2.5, NC 6 speed and lsd. Complete NC rear end including the crossmember. Planning to make my own ITB set, using Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R throttle bodies and my own manifold, ECU will be a Speeduino that I will be a kit, that I will have to solder together. I'm building all this on a low budget(Low cost= Locost). The safety cage can be purchased, if you are planning to race, I don't believe that the company should be knocked for that.

That's fair, but still not as safe for road use even. I will add that GBS does make a race chassis now but it is not modular and doesn't work with a weather kit. I'll have to checkout the Speeduino, first I've heard of it, I've run several versions of Megasquirt on previous cars in the past. The 2.5L is punchy in a light car, you should enjoy it!

is that a custom fuel tank or one of their off the shelf units?

The Fuel Safe cell was custom built using the MK fuel tank dimensions, but now that it's in their system anyone can order it.

Love the GT3 wheels! You're probably aware, but NA diff's can/do struggle with driveshaft failure at a certain point in comparison to NB MX5. Ditto the 5 speed transmission in comparison to the 6 speed (from memory, the 5 speeds get a bit unhappy over about 220whp/equivalent torque). The 'best' transmission is the 6 speed from a Mazdaspeed Miata as it has a shot penned gear set and i've run mine happily at 300whp racing for a good while. The 6 speed has a shorter top ratio than the 5 speed so if you have a short ratio diff' you'll find the rev limiter in top on long straights very early..... may not be an issue with a 'K22' with a rev limit like yours though. It'll sound very good!

Deciding on the trans was tough. Initially I wanted to go 6spd, but more gears and a shorter gear set means a lot of shifting. The Seven chassis is less than half the weight of even the lightest miatas so I'm hoping that reduced mass will help the diff and trans live a little longer. That being said, I also don't plan on making 300hp which should help too.

tbh, I'm doing my best to sort out all the issues in the Zero so when I do sell it on the next owner can have a problem free experience. If it goes to someone local, I want them to join us for Seven shenanigans and offer help if ever needed.
