Beautifully laid out and explained. I would love to have had the chance to give to this seminary school.

Read the song with the jazz "Harriet", though we don't know the real melodies, I really enjoyed the book that way. Every Elul I read it.

Great book if you're here and you're Catholic: The Cantata of Love, which is a compilation of Catholic commentary on this book (also breaks down the book into the 5 'acts' described here)

I would love to have a visual of how you mark your Bible in Song of Solomon.

Sorry I stopped at 15mn. The teacher says it's poetry so we need not to interpret it too much. But then he said that when she says "I am black", she's not really black, just tanned by the sun. I'm sorry but the reality is that we don't know. The word used "schachor" literally means the black color in Hebrew. So maybe she is or maybe not. But my point is that it's an over-interpretation. I like the concept though of the one hour one book.

We kinda do know. Reading from the ESV translation: "Do not gaze at me because I am dark, because the sun has looked upon me" -- I don't know about you but to me this sounds like a tan.
@simwyck2 жыл бұрын
@@skippy8696 The ESV is only a translation. In my native language, French, the words used are even different. When not sure, we need to go back to the original words, here in Hebrew.

Dude... they were lighter skinned back then too. If she was naturally black from something beside the sun it wouldn't make sense to even mention her skin tone. She's poor = she works outside = she's likely to have darker skin. The contrast to this is people of lighter skin = richer. He's really not doing much interpreting when he brings this up.

@@jlupus8804 Sorry, you missed my point. We don't know for sure, that's all. Whatever the reason of her tanned skin, the text doesn't mention why.

@@simwyck Yes and that’s why we’re also including stuff outside the text to back up what’s happening

Thank you! I have a literal mind, so the poetry is especially hard for me to understand. Is the full teaching out there somewhere? I have heard some different commentaries on this book, and I'd like to have a solid understanding of what is going on.

Putting "My God" in quotes as an exclamation does not reserve you from breaking the Third Commandment, a commandment to which you yourself must desire to hold to considering the Ten Commandments is the first video on your KZbin channel. Regardless, I hope you got everything figured out with God as we all continue to work towards, I will pray for you my friend Michael
