Dino de Laurentiis initially wanted to do a sequel to King Kong that involved the titular ape duking it out with a giant Orca. De Laurentiis was also the producer of the movie Orca: The Killer Whale, which is possibly how he came up with that idea. Also, after this movie, Linda Hamilton got the lead role in CBS’ Beauty and the Beast series, which absolutely kept her career in good hands until T2.

What a coincidence, I was marathoning all of kong movies when suddenly I found this. The movie is obviously cheesy and meant for a cash grab but the part where kong gets to see his son made me tear up a bit. Overall In my opinion I’d like to see (Monsterverse kong) live beyond the King-Kong arc.

- Because being shot up to bloody shreds and then falling 1,300 feet to concrete only results in a tricky ticker. - Back in the day, Dino de Laurentiis threw around a number of sequel concepts. One was _Bionic Kong,_ which obviously evolved into this sweet mess. He proposed that Kong and Dwan have a reunion, but "Kong pop her in his mouth and eat her." Dino was...interesting. - I did love the scene where Kong bites that idiot good ol' boy in two, _chews up and swallows the top half,_ and then digs the hat out of his teeth. - That's my favorite failed effect: switching between the baby gator, the full-size gator (is that poor thing hanging from a chain), and the store-bought rubber gator. Tell us more about the glory of practical effects, CGI haters. - Also love the scene in which Linda says that Kong is doomed because he killed the yeehaws. _He already killed far more people in New York City, Linda._ - Lovely John Scott score, though! He graced _Berserk!, The Final Countdown, Greystoke,_ and many other movies but never gets the credit he deserves.

I have always loved this movie, and I think it gets a whole lot of unfair hate and I really don't get why, the special effects Are not as good as rick baker's kong suit from 76 but it's not terrible, the music is amazing, check it out if you Havent on it's own, a cute relationship between kong and Lady and it has a great cast of characters, plus some awesome Kaiju action and Kaiju movie visuals and not gonna lie the ending still makes me tear up and made a few of My friends actually cry, a great underated kaiju/monster movie classic in My opinion

I had no idea that this film even existed! And I am endlessly thankful for that! After the "Show him his son." line, all I could think of was anatomical proportions.... Linda Hamilton could have walked right in there, shoulder pads and all, and then trotted back out with Kong Jr couldn't she? Couldn't she??? Agh.... That mental image is going to burn itself into the back of my eyelids for the rest of the night! 👀

What I don't like about this movie is that none of the characters from King Kong 1976 are in it. Like where's Jeff Bridges? Where's Jessica Lange? Where's the surviving crew of the Petrox? The characters in King Kong lives aren't as charming.

This shit and Son of Kong are why the MonsterVerse Kong works so much better. The first MV Kong movie is a full reboot that allows the character live at the end, thus leaving room for more sequels. The problem with SoK and KKL is that they're sequels to a story that was always intended to be standalone. Like, where do you go after killing Kong. Well, we saw where they went and they sucked monkey balls. Thank Christ for Peter Jackson deciding to let his Kong movie stay solo.
