Just recently discovered these, got a gen 3 for $20. Best kept secret in surplus.

Same here, my soflcs v2 doesnt have 3 rows for my buttpack like the usaf rig does.

Was issued these for years in the AF. It was called DFLCS. Defensor Fortis Load Carrying System. A lot of troops slept on them and preferred to use the IOTV. Which didn't make sense to me since we were doing CONUS security missions and even a second chance vest was overkill imo. I chose this to save my back from wearing plates for 50hrs+ per week. They were really nice when you only had to carry 4 M4 mags, radio, flashlight, baton, and handcuffs. I think the weakest part of the whole system is the front closure buckles. If they went to one, beefy buckle vs two buckles/straps, I think the system would be better. Then somebody got the great idea to save some money and the roll out the Gen 2. Gen 2 was a piece of shit. Horrible stitching and worse molle layout. A brand new harness could have it's straps pulled from their stitching by hand. But I think they still make gen 1 which is what yours is. And I've seen them in other colors.

Thanks for the info! I’ll keep that in mind about the front buckles. Lol every second generation seems to suck! Plus leave it to the government to take short cuts on production quality.

Ive go t the same harness and love it. If you are patient you can put that whole rig together for half of what you spent including the canteens. Good video.
@minutemancorner4434 Жыл бұрын
I wish I was more patient! Still cheap considering everything else nowadays is hella expensive.
@jeffbrown9648 Жыл бұрын
@@minutemancorner4434 I totally agree. Wasn't bashing you, just stating that you can put this together on the cheap if you are on a tight budget.

That's a solid harness, I love mine! The RIT synthetic dye works the best for the nylon I've used a combo of green and brown dye, and have had some pretty darn good results with the USAF tiger.

Thanks for the tips! I’ll get a couple different colors to test on pouches.

You could even spray paint this whole set up to your liking. The spray paint will pick up all the natural stuff in your environment and make it even more camouflaged. I've rattle canned gear before and it works pretty well even with heavy use. The fad right now is micro chest rigs but bit load bearing vests still have their place. Also, is that knife cumbersome at all? I've never used this system so i can't tell how it fits on your body. To me it looks like if you took a knee, that knife would be in your way.

I ended up rattle canning the whole thing. It looks just fine and way easier than the rit dye. The knife got a little in the way when moving about. No good place to put it 🥲 even though I truly believe every warrior needs a bayonet. I just stash it in my assualt pack and use a smaller knife for cutting tasks. Thanks for the comment!

Forgot to ask. How did you attach equipment over the elastic part of the belt? What recipes do you use to dye your equipment? I going for the green type. Thank you for your ideas. Also, what pouch does the cat go in? :)
@minutemancorner4434 Жыл бұрын
I just used the molle straps on the canteen pouches and they fit ok. They sag a little. I’ve only used the liquid rit dye but I’ve heard people have great results using the apple green. Haha the cat goes in the assault pack!

Did you ever find out what type of pouch you are using for a buttpack? Great vid, just bought a set. Been looking for example of pouch layout. Thank you, it was helpful.
@minutemancorner4434 Жыл бұрын
So when I bought it off eBay it was called an “ammo utility pouch” they’re not expensive at all! Plus easy to open if you need to get something out.

Go and get the U.S.A.F. 10O ounce Comes in ABU Tiger stripe and molly laters perfectly to the webbing on that back h‐herness. Pluss more webbing on the back of it.

Would i be able to comfortably wear this harness with a rucksack or would that waist band affect the rucksack hip belt?
@minutemancorner4434 Жыл бұрын
Rucksack is too big for me. I run a molle II assault pack with it and it’s comfy. Rucksack (large Alice sized bag) could be worn with this granted how long your torso is and is the harness sits at the right place. Hope this helps!

What size did you get and what're your dimensions? Thanks!

So I got the medium/large I believe. I'm 5’10 170-180lbs and have a 42in chest. It fits snuggly.
