This sketchbook is absolutely incredible, I can tell why you got such a good grade. Not only are you incredibly skilled at drawing and able to draw beautifully in many different styles, you make every single page of this into a piece of art. The way you use different colors, layouts and compositions makes every page look gorgeous, and I’m sure that contributed to your grade. The mindmap and collages at the beginning look amazing, the way you arrange all of the text and pictures is just so perfect. And the colors and backgrounds you add to everything make it look more pretty and interesting to look at. And I’m just going to mention my favorite drawing, which is the one at 8:55… I LOVE the day and night theme, and you created it so beautifully. The woman looks very pretty, the colors are stunning and I just adore the stars and constellations you put on her face. I also love how there is some orange on the night side and purple on the day side, and the way you used different layers is PERFECTION. It makes the piece look ten times better. You’re an incredible artist, Minty, and this sketchbook blew me away. ^^

Hi! I definitely recommend a piece of tracing paper between two graphite/charcoal heavy drawings if you want to limit the amount of smudging. Some people don’t like loose papers in their sketchbook, but it’s a nice way to protect your art in a non intrusive way :) great art btw keep it up

oh I’m not in 9th grade haha! I’m slightly older, basically grade 9 for this just means an A*, so we are graded from a score of 1 to 9 if that makes sense :) but thanks!

That was so beatiful. I love all of them, really.! Also, you improved so, SO much! Definatly do a part 2. Well, I was never been in art school or an art class, and every time I saw someone's project I kinda feel jealous. I may try my own "school class" without been at art school. Like, I will choose a theme, give myself a time frame and have to deliver a final project. I think it would be fun! I am waiting for part 2! 🧡💜

I haven't started my gcse art, but i have seen other students' works. The booklets/sketchbooks are massive! I think that you only fill 2 pages per topic/ task. Im not sure since i haven't started, but i already know that i am going to have to free uo my schedule a little bit.

icl idk what gcse stands for lol, it’s just a type of exam course, and it lasts for about 2 years with studying and coursework with an exam at the end :) then you get graded on a scale of 1-9

Funnily enough, astroturf and whatever they put on walls to make it textured was the first thing that came to mind. Do with this what you like. If your really adamant, you wont have to draw anything at all

doing art gcse feels a bit like losing a winning battle atm! like ik it's really hard to get a 9 but I really want it and I'm gonna work hard and plan everything super neat (and slightly psychotically with detail) but one of my friends in the year above literally are amazing and they still get a 7. idk but i iwsh they'd let us be as free as you (with adding some of your own extra things and stuff - i feel like we're not allowed in case we fill up our sketchbook and stuff)

Hi I am a student who is completing my gcse art early,the topics i have done is 1 full sketchbook on natural forms and spirals then the 2nd topic is confectionary do you think i should mount my confectionary things in another book or should i put them on boards to get top marks? for my second topic I just had all my stuff loose. I’ll make a video about that at some point hopefully, but I don’t think it matters too much how you put your pieces together, it didn’t seem to affect my mark but it could depend on ur exam board tbh. but putting them on boards would look good I think!

it can be talent but it’s much more about practice! you can easily become good at art if you practice so don’t worry. and you can still get a good grade without a lot of experience as long as you: - make good annotations, and a lot of them - keep up with the work and maybe do some extra drawings - try different textures and methods (eg oil pastels, painting etc)
