00:05 Metals form positive ions, non-metals form negative ions or do not form ions. 00:39 Metals lose electrons easily due to fewer outer shell electrons. 01:18 Metals become more reactive as you go down the periodic table 01:51 Metals become more reactive further down the group 02:27 Metals have various physical properties. 03:02 Non-metals have unique properties compared to metals 03:34 Transition metals have unique properties and are good catalysts. 04:09 Catalysts increase chemical reaction rates without being used up.

Thanks so much. I truly love and enjoy watching your videos. Keep up your good work. I’m not sure why you say (1:05ish) that Chlorine would need all of its seven outermost electrons removed in order to become a positive ion. I understand the difficulties in practically attaining a Chlorine +1 ion, but why shouldn’t just six electrons in its outermost shell constitute a +1 ion? End of the day, won’t it have an unbalanced proton-electron ratio, and be positively charged?
