0:52 ,why did you add 2 to HCl and NaCl ??? how does that relate to balancing ??? Also at 1:19 ,why did you add 2 to KOH and H2O
@roxeiistudy2 ай бұрын
because SO4 has a 2- charge, and K has a 1+ charge, and inorder for it to neutralize both have to equal to 0, thus you multioly K by 2 so that it is 2+ instead of 1+

If ur referring to the charges when making a formula they are known as valency. All group one elements have a valency of +1 group 2 has +2 group 3 has +3 group 4 has +/- 4 group 5 has -3 group 6 has -2 and group seven -1

Great vid thankns for the help. Im still a bit confused as I was under the impression that the H+ ions from the acid neutralise the OH- ions from the base? Your explanation made so much more sense to me and im struggling to understand the H+ and hydroxide ions bit. I would like to say neutralisiation is the negative ions from the acid neutralising the posotive ions from the base but that doesnt fit in with the H+ and OH- ions ... or does it? Hope you can shed some light thanks again for the awsome vid, like everyone els says so informative and clear, will deffo subscribe. Thanks dude.

i dont understand chemistry especially how to balance the neutralization equation.
@Cognitoedu5 жыл бұрын
Hi Killer, don't despair! This topic ties together a few other skills. Give our video on balancing equations a watch (linked below), and then do some practice questions. Once you're comfortable with it, it will make the rest of the material easier to follow - just remember to take it one thing at a time with chemistry. Quite often if you jump ahead too much, you can end up missing some knowledge or mechanism that other stuff relies on to make sense :) Good luck! kzbin.info/www/bejne/p6LYgHmPhNWXopI
