whats the point of cancelling gcse and doing mini tests, that makes it harder as there is alot of content but a smaller exam or are they going to give us topics sheets like they planned for the end of jan

They may create mini exams that cover some of the content only. Or they may divide the exam paper up into smaller segments. Hopefully, all will become clear this week...

@TutoringWithGavin Surely it would make more sense to base it on past assessments and exams? Because many haven’t covered the content, and the content covered has been online. Doing ‘mini-exams’ wouldn’t be a level playing field for those who have missed long periods of time, whereas others could’ve been in class the whole time? Right?

I expect them to choose part of the curriculum you've been studying and test you on that part, although there could be more than one test because they seem to be considering internal (classroom) exams as well. For example in Literature you might get one or two of the set texts you've been studying instead of the usual three plus poetry. It would be crazy to introduce another text now.

@@tutoringwithgavin4304 haha yeah, thank you for replying. I'm hoping I get a grade 7/8 in my English Language mock because I got an 8 in my first paper. I got 1 mark off a 6 in Literature and I'm hoping to get a 6 in my second mock. I'm hoping to do well in all my mocks and mini exams

That's a good question, but until the consultation report is published, probably Wednesday, we won't know the details. I would continue to prepare for all topics until they clarify. They will probably be shorter exams, but there could be several of them. Good luck.

Hi. Every teacher will have their own ideas. Hopefully today Ofqual will announce details of the proposed mini exams/internal assessments and teachers should then follow those guidelines so that there is a consistency across the country. I think that there is a lot of useful information on the internet, which gives you a wide perspective and rounded view. I would stick to sources you can trust, but online learning is now part of the revision process for most. Good luck.

@tutoringwithgavin43043 жыл бұрын
I think Boris Johnson caused the confusion by saying exams were cancelled. There is still six months to go before grades are decided, and those in education would like to try to get as close to normality as possible, and are trying to find a way to do this. They have to find the fairest way to test people so that they have a grade and a qualification and the skills to move forward next year.

If our teachers want us to revise for mini assessments,then they should stop giving us other pieces of work on the subjects. Also,who else is hopeful about getting told what topics are on their mini assessment/s? I fear I have a mini h+sc assessment in May and I have about 50 topics to learn,but I can't revise because I have lots of other pieces of work to do also!!

Hopefully, we will know more detail on the 22nd when Ofqual publishes their consultation report. Until then, it's best to revise everything you've been taught so far because it's likely that you will be tested on these parts of the exam.
