I have a feeling that they will be either as high as last year’s or even higher. Every time I think that I could lose my 9 in maths by 2 marks I feel like throwing up. I think I’ve lost the plot.

With the 22nd of August 2024 approaching, this marks the final time I'll be doing this, and I wanted to share some thoughts about the grading system since 2019. It's fascinating how the marks needed to achieve a Grade 4 or 5 have been so consistent. You need between 158 and 189 marks overall to get those grades. Let me break it down: To get a Grade 4, you need at least 158 marks. Now, if you're taking 3 papers, that means you'd need to score about 53 marks on each paper, because 158 divided by 3 gives you about 52.67, which rounds up to 53. If you're aiming for a Grade 5, you'd be looking at needing closer to 63 marks per paper, given the upper end of 189 marks.

Based off the difficulty I’m guessing a 7 has to be 135, 142 is a bit too high.

No way too low it was harder than 2023 but still not as hard as 2018 2019 2020 so I reckon 142 is reasonable it should drop by 3 marks as last year a 7 was 145 marks.

@@yuz-65 I agree. I think this years exam was purposefully done to reduce the number of grade nine’s (8 debatable) especially since the last 4 years have been piss easy lol. I think grade 7 this year was very doable

@@yuz-65I underperformed this year I think. Was predicted a 9 in like march after getting around 215 in mocks but messed paper 1 badly by not checking my answers and may have only scraped a 7 on that paper. 2 and 3 I still couldn’t get nines with me only getting into the 60s just in them. I predict my marks are from 163-173 roughly so I’ll take an 8at this point if the boundaries go down nicely

In my Feb mock this year I got like 210 grade 9 on Edexcel and continued doing past papers getting low 70s each but in the actual gsce it felt so weird these papers that based on the unofficial ms I've got around 55-63 each which is a high 7 low 8 so at this rate I'll take a 8. Grade 9 is just gone I'm still doing A level maths tho

You can kind of use the same technique I used for by looking at the previous year's I displayed on the video. The foundation paper has a range it has been using for grades each year so, something around those numbers for the grade you want you find out for.
