Hi Palani, what is the significance of flatness as a geometric control given to a Feature of Size (FOS) in the example of Regardless of Feature Size (RFS)?

When controlling the flatness of the centerplane is the requirement then we can apply RFS or MMC to FOS

As these are distances & not features of size, I dont think material conditions apply to them. We can only get their maximum and minimum values.

Sir, they won't have any, Since they are dimensions which fits the definition of Basic Dimensions.

these dimensions are not FOS dimensions, so we don't get MMC and LMC conditions

Hello sir, MMC & LMC is not applicable for this. Because of those dimensions are related to hole. If the dimensions are related to size. If my answer is wrong please help me.

MMC , LMC , are pretty clear. RFS means , for the regular feature of size , only the tolerance limits , upper limit ,and limit we need to consider. MMC ,LMC should not be considered.this is what my understanding is. Can you please clarify...sir

Material conditions are not applicable to those dimensions as the material condition remains same irrespective of those dimensional changes as per the given tolerance range. Am I right sir??

for the Image @4:15, why not use 25 +-0.2? If there is least and maximum limit, why there is also 0.2 tolerans Sir?

There are different methods of giving dimensions, in this example o have used Limit Dimensioning, in other examples i have used Plus/Minus dimensioning as well

Rfs Is That mentioned 0.2 may toleranced with 24.80 and 25.20 ? So actual tolerance - 1) 24.60 - 25.00 2) 25 - 25.40

Questions, A, B & C are not the Feature of Size, hence the material condition is not applicable to them. For Example, The shaft Diameter and Length of the shaft is a Feature of Size. The thickness of the material is Feature of Size. In simple terms, whatever the part you can measure using Vernier caliper with its two jaws (fixed & movable), you can assume it's a Feature of Size.

Its irregular feature of size we can't easily measure dimensions by vernier caliper because here unrelated actual meeting envelope need, so this is type A UAME

Dear Sir- Those A B C all values are used to positioning those two holes, Hence Why don't you mention those A B &C in BASIC DIMENSION?

@@subbusubramanyam3375MMC or LMC applied for its size (diameter of hole)..For only Position dimension as marked(A,B,C), it is not FOS and no Datum is specified in this case.

Hi Palani, From my understanding of the previous course, FOS is any shape (circular, cylindric, parallel) that can be measured by the caliper. How it comes to these parts are not measurable here? Is it because we are measuring a parallel side with a curved line (the hole)? I feel I got a bit confused.

When the dimension gives the size of the part and in measurable with front end of the vernier caliper, then they are FOS and material modifiers are applicable

For A MMC :15.25, LMC 14.75 .... B) MMC=29.75, LMC 30.25......C) MMC 10.25, LMC 9.75

The dimensions labelled are not FOS, hence you will not get MMC and LMC for those dimensions

But sir using UAME we can measure it by vernier caliper, you don't tell about in videos FOS must be Regular FOS for finding MMC, LMC, etc you just say only FOs
