I like the gun boat dd's over the torp boats, sad it doesn't have AP and the gigachad AA, but the smoke, reload and quick radar is quite nice. Big Fan Bro!!

The funny part about it is the torps are arguably better than the hallands, along with the better guns, smoke/radar combo, 20% more base health, etc. torps are harder to detect and do more damage, you only sacrifice the 15 km range for 10 km (which still more than allows you to stealth torp)

This thing strongly reminds me of the Grozovoi. Just Grozo was gimped back then (not enought heals) while Gdansk has the same issue with the radar (too short a duration). Both are big and handle rather poorly ...

I fought this thing in a grozovoi a few times at 10+ kilometers and got dumpstered every time. And you can't hide in the smoke because it will charge at you and spot you with radar. This thing is like a grozovoi but better, but instead of a heal, you get radar. I feel like this ship will be meta-defining, and when it's on your flank, you can only play passive, unless you're a Marceu or other insane gunboat. But even then, Gdansk can just smoke up and radar you. Honestly, this ship seems to be broken for my 50% winrate brain, and I can't comprehend why WG would release something this powerful. Unless it's just me being bad.

Yes - this 100%, some are adamant that these ships are underwhelming simply because of the 10 second radar, however, the ability to deal damage on DDs WITHOUT any risk by using smoke+radar is strong even if you don't kill the enemy DD in one go. In all my DD fights against these ships they can easily do 1/3 or more of your HP with a single radar that will be reloaded in > 60 seconds to farm you again, and good luck getting out of its 9km radar range since they cruise 38+ knots without speed flag or boost. I think the design and implementation of this line is toxic and a huge nerf to all DDs.

Yeah second best fires per minute on a dd, harugumo level HE dpm and kleber balistics, smoke, radar, pretty fast and good healthpool. Seems balanced.

With this ship, many tier X destroyers will have serious problems facing it, only a great ship and with player ability like Smaland, Kleber, Druid, Vampire II, or Z-42 could shoot it down

In my experience Daring also has an advantage over Gdańsk because of her combination of heals, short smoke and nasty AP so you can control the engagements. The only way the Daring loses is if you do something stupid like get caught in radar in smoke. Plus Gdańsk has bad firing angles and needs to show quite a bit of broadside to really shoot all his guns

everyone used to give me shit for building gunboats for max range and then it became "meta" after you trash enough of their ships at a range that's difficult for them to hit you at... hell Kitakaze with max gun range is still one of the best ranked setups... basically burn down their BBs before they can engage on anything lol

The one thing I didnt see mentioned, are horrible gun angles and ships handling. Gun arcs are like GK but among dds and handling is similar. I mean, you got crapton of stuff so it kinda fitst it has SOME weakness, but its still pretty irritating, I found myself wishing I was playing daring instead several times.
