That's quite a unique approach these guys did and it is a big reason why it works for them: it is novel for the people. And how some of the games become bigger ones like Simmiland and Brume and other ones is really cool. I myself found out about Sokpop through Simmiland whuch I still have to crack the code for to make a successful playthrough.

Simmiland really isn't a bad little game, it was one of the first indies I ever reviewed and when I looked into Sokpop I couldn't believe that their business model actually worked, it seemed utterly ludicrous

Cool of them to include the source code of all the games if you pay a tier. Looking forward to this becoming a standard practice

I personally hope game subscriptions like these don't become too mainstream

@@BRICKLOVER9000 would you mind explaining why? :) To the developers' perspective, it's cool because they get a consistent source of income without having to sorta guess how popular it would be. I'm curious to know your perspective.

@@BRICKLOVER9000 Yeah, I could see how this format might be abused. I remember being really mad at Nintendo when they announced the online pass or whatever it's called. Paying for accessing online games is just... No

I think it's great, but I think the self-imposed limit of 2 weeks per game is a little absurd.

Their games look like a lot of fun. There have been so few playful games which rival older games like Grim Fandango and Worms Armageddon. Fun games are a much needed break from all of the extremely intense and mainstream ones.

I would like to know if these kids would be willing to buy other peoples simple games for a small fee to help them keep up with their schedule.

I would love to do something like that, Spend a few weeks to a month making a game then sell it to these guys for like 500-1000$ or so which considering they are making like 4k a month it would be a decent business decision for them.

There is a difference between trying and not trying. These devs are trying to make interesting games, not necessarily long games. The games are not exactly full experiences and it's closer to a prototype, if the game is liked they put more effort into it making a full game. Game development is getting harder and the winning idea is harder to share/gain traction, many great prototypes for games I have tried never were able to be finished due to countless factors. Another point of note is not all games are made for all players, I hate moba's and visual novels although a lot of people like both of those.

Clearly a lot of people like their work. Their patreon is currently sitting at ~$4,300 per month. If you don't like their work then don't subscribe.

I bet you only consider a game good based solely on length or graphics (not art) quality. It's that perception that's an issue with this industry.
