Good vid. Some reviewers explain it well but don’t actually show it. So I appreciate you setting up your hands on tutorial.

I'm your lucky 400th subscriber!!! Loved the video and it really helped me out alot with buying these back up bulbs

good to know! i just bought some but read some people mention certain light fixtures created a problem. I'll keep them solely for the simple 1-bulp lamps instead :)

Nice, I will have to get a few of these, next month. I am busy paying off some bills for the next few paydays!

I wonder if these would work with a timer controlled switch. I would use these on my porch.
@Jaspel Жыл бұрын
I think it would depend on the switch, but probably if it is only disconnecting the line. You would need to ensure they get charged as well.

Pretty cool video! I thoerize the bulb will only truly work if it senses nothing coming back through the neutral wire. But also the capacitance from the other LED could be causing it to switch off too. Perhaps these backups are best suited towards a single socket fixture? Not sure... I wonder what two backup bulbs would be doing in the same dual socket fixture, even after the power is totally out. Will they confuse each other and stay off? So many possibilities!

I think it's a limitation. I have four in my upstairs bathroom fixture that function fine together. Once in a blue moon they get tripped up by the fact it's a three way switch, but flipping the other switch a couple of times seems to resolve it.

I just bought these and followed the instructions exactly. I switched the bulb to lamp mode, screwed it into a table lamp, and left the light on for over 10 hours.. I tested it by switching off the lamp, but the light did not come on automatically. Then I tried unplugging the lamp and still the light did not come on automatically. Many of the KZbin demonstrations show that you should just switch the bulb to flashlight mode while it is still in the lamp which works and is easy but it's not what the instructions say to do. The instructions say that you should put it on flashlight mode if you're unscrewing it from the fixture and using it as a flashlight and otherwise it will come on automatically, which would be better. I feel like either I'm doing something wrong or or it doesn't work quite the way it should. Any suggestions?

Your expectations are correct. In my mind the flashlight mode is just an override and will ignore that. There might be a mix of missed use case expectations and finicky triggering. Once charged can you remove it from the lamp entirely and get it to turn on by touching your fingers to the metal contacts? Mine will. I suspect the lamp switch isn't electrically representative and isn't getting triggered. Not sure what the "learning" logic is. Perhaps test it in a closet light that is a single bulb fixture connected to a single (standard non electronic) switch circuit. Basically, the wiring shouldn't change.. just that it is unpowered. Switch the breaker off (representative of a power failure) and see what happens. I.e. the natural is still connected to your panel's earth ground, etc

does it work in a ceiling fan or regular light fixture on the ceiling ?
@Jaspel3 жыл бұрын
I doubt it would work well with a ceiling fan. Normal fixtures should be fine. That's actually a globe fixture minus the glass there.

I forgot to mention that they work fine on 3 way switches.
@campkemp94663 жыл бұрын
It doesn't work in some 3 ways and others it won't turn off and most its too big to fit in the lamp anyways...it clearly comes over the top!

@@campkemp9466 Sorry to hear. I have them on four separate three way switch circuits now. It must have to do with the impedance of the circuit. romex, dimmers, etc..
@campkemp94663 жыл бұрын
It has a lot of problems....I just bought 3 and it's very finicky...if you have a 3 light lamp it won't work...if your bathroom has more than 1 bulb...it won't turn off...even if all 3 bulbs are the same GE battery backup bulbs...it doesn't matter...they will stay on but with a little less light

They must be very finicky. I have four on a bathroom fixture with a three way switch working fine. Sorry they didn't work out for you.
