My GE dishwasher was making the grinding noise very similar to your dishwasher... I did exactly what you did and It was a button! A BUTTON! I had to show my wife right away and share your video. Not sure what a button is doing in the drain area, but it was there.

Another grateful viewer - I'd tip you for saving me so much money lol! Coffee mug chip was the culprit. A little piece was also down in the sump I couldn't get to but I think I crushed it up enough with a screwdriver for it to pass. Thank you so much!

Thank you for the video. At first I wondered what would bring a piece like a button inside the pump housing. Just before I through it the the garabage I decided to do the same thing, I removed the pump and deassembled it to find a piece of chipped glass jamming the pump impeller. I removed it and now works perfectly and saved $500.

Actually you saved me another $65...I didn't even think about taking the old pump apart until I saw your video. It had pieces of broken glass inside which was causing it to vibrate really loud and cease up at times. I was able to clean the glass out and it works fine now. Plan on returning the new pump I bought...Thx bro!

Thank you very much! You just saved my weekend. I have the exact same dishwasher. The water wasn't draining, and the pump wasn't turning on at all. After watching your video, I decided to try fixing it myself. The pump smelled a little burnt when I removed it, so that was definitely the problem. I found the genuine part at my local appliance repair store, WD19X25180. Important for people: unscrew and save the large metal counterweight from the old pump - it doesn't come with the new pump. Followed the directions from this video exactly. Boom. Dishwasher fixed!!! THANK YOU.

Thank you so much for your tutorial. I was able to restore my GE dishwasher back to its formal working and drying self. I took my time by even cleaning and sanitizing all the removal parts, with this being the case , it took me about 45 minutes. If I didn't wash the parts 30 minutes start to finish. One suggestion to others , my unit happen to have a hole at the 3:00 o'clock position which I covered with a paper towel so that my hex screws would not accidentally fall in there thus cause and major rip up the whole machine and a trip to the hardware store. Thanks again for your confidence in us sort of do it your selfers !

Our GE dishwasher started leaking and I could see that it was because it wasn't draining. Tried all of the easy stuff, like checked for a clogged hose. Called for a technician. $75 service call. Motor $100+. Estimated time to replace motor was 2 hours, at $80/hr. At $335, I could replace it for another $200. Was about to give up, but then I saw this video and I saw how easy it was to take the motor apart. Went back, pulled the dishwasher out, turned it on its back, disconnected the motor from the hoses, but had a hard time disconnecting the motor's wiring, so I just removed the screws and VOILA! There was a piece of plastic that was causing the impeller to stick. I also noticed a build up of what looked like powdered detergent. Cleaned the motor, and connected the dishwasher to electricity to see if I could get the impeller to rotate (at this point, I wasn't sure if the motor had burned out). It spun! I put everything back together and ran a cycle. Worked like it was brand new! Thanks!!!!

Excellent video. Gave me the courage and info to pull the motor and pump, take them apart, and ascertain that they were fine. Then I checked the hose and found it was blocked. Now we're back to normal, and it cost nothing. Whew!

I just wanted to add to all the comments of appreciation for the useful, clear video. I want to point out that I found a glass shard that had blocked the pump, but just in the bottom of the drain without pulling out the dishwasher and getting at the pump from underneath. Might you have found the button that way, without removing the dishwasher? Or was it further down, inaccessible from inside the dishwasher? In any case, thanks, again. I lift a clean glass to toast you!

I don't think so, it was further down in the system.

Exactly same dishwasher we have and making the exact same noise. Confirmed it’s coming from the pump now just need to pull it off to see if there is something in it or a broken impeller.

So I was having a similar issue except mine would not even try to drain.. watched this vid and It gave me an idea 💡. tap on the drain mechanism lightly with the handle of a screwdriver while it was in drain mode and wallah it took off like a champ..mine was just stuck from being unused for a couple of months I think..So push and hold the start button after the dishwasher is full and running. Then start tapping the side of the drain mechanism from underneath and hopefully like mine it takes off

We just bought my ge profile. It was marked down looked brand spanking new. Installed it. Ran a load.. worked just fine. Go to do a second load a few days later.. selected the cycle, pressed start. Closed the door, and nothing.. display stays dark bit all the other lights are on but it won't run a cycle. I hold the start button to cancel and the display lights back up. But it never makes any sounds.. we have been working in it for days and at one point it lit up as if it was going thru a drying cycle. I'm so confused

Hi, I am having the no draining issue even I hear the pump is running. 9 out of 10 times the pumps runs without water coming out but occasionally I do get draining and the pump running noise is slightly different. What could possibly be the cause? I took out the pump, there is no stuck at all. I see some ppl mentioning a stuck drain solenoid, but it seems this model doesn’t have a solenoid on it?
@TwoKeysStudio Жыл бұрын
Check the drain line from the dishwasher to your sink drain. Mine would occasionally would get clogged and prevent it from draining.

The model number on the dishwasher in the video is a bit different than on my dishwasher. My model is: GDF520PGD1CC From the video, I see very little difference between the 2 models.
