Thank you for posting this. I got hurt at work and have been out for 5 months now. Jan 1 I was washing towels and threw them in the dryer after drying a load of colored clothes and I'm guessing the age of the belt and weight finally made it snap in half. I can't afford a repair person to come to my home so I figured, let's see how hard it is. Your video was the first one I seen. I stopped at my local appliance parts store, and they had it in stock for $42. 4 screws and pull the drum out, cleaned everything with my shop vac, put belt and drum back in, slipped the belt on the motor, installed the door front on and boom 💥, back in business. Put the top on and it's drying those same towels effortlessly . Thanks again.

@@ApartmentMaintenance one issue i'm having now is the dryer barrel, or whatever, apparently isn't pushed in far enough. It didn't lock in. So it dries, and it works, but it squeaks and I have to reach in and push it from the inside to kind of lock it in. Is there a fix for that without taking the whole thing apart again?
@ApartmentMaintenance Жыл бұрын

@@ApartmentMaintenance I think I know what happened. On the top near the bearings there are 2 felt squares, I guess you might can them. In my ignorance I thought they were lint and I pulled them out and tossed them away. I think that is making the drum slip forward just a tiny bit and causing the issue. Is there a replacement for that? What do you think?

This video helped me immensely. My belt just randomly broke a few days ago. I watched this video a few times while waiting for the belt to arrive. Then dove in. I didn't have to unhook the door wires. It took me a much longer time because I was doing it alone and I'm a 5'4" woman lifting etc. I took several breaks after each step, lol, for my sanity. Then did a test run with the top still off. The hardest thing for me was popping the top back in place. It's running now...with dryer balls so I can hear it.

What is the name of the tool that you used to remove the screws for the front panel to come off?

If you're talking about the multi tool I used for the 2 screws that take the front panel off you can buy just the bit which is cheaper than the multi tool I used. If you purchase either item a small amount goes to the channel which helps support the channel & allows us to keep creating great content. The price is the same as if you would find the tool yourself on Amazon but by going through the link it just tells Amazon our channel directed you to Amazon from our channel since we are an affiliate of Amazon. What do you think was the cause of the broken belt?
@ApartmentMaintenance Жыл бұрын
It was the original belt that was 7 years old so it finally got weak & broke. With the heat of the drum every time the dryer runs then cooling down, the belt is constantly expanding & contracting. They definitely don't last forever but it's an inexpensive part that needs replaced at some point on every dryer. Thanks for watching TJohnson9493 & Subscribe to the channel 👍

Why is belt not tracking properly?
@ApartmentMaintenance5 ай бұрын
If it's not in line with the mark on the drum something isn't right with the install at the motor & the tensioner pulley. After you reinstall the belt you can turn the drum counterclockwise & adjust the belt so it lines up with the mark on the drum. If everything is installed correctly after one full rotation it will stay on the mark. Hope that helps & Thanks for watching Dave & help support the channel by subscribing 🛠️👍

Thanks so much for quick reply. My belt wasn’t broken….the vent/ motor were clogged up with lint. Tried feeling the tensioner (never took out drum)….but can’t figure out why the belt is trying to track about an inch ahead of where it was…

@ApartmentMaintenance5 ай бұрын
@@daveparsons7756 Ohh ok. That is very strange since you didn't remove the belt or the drum. I've never seen that happen unfortunately I don't have an answer to that one.
@ApartmentMaintenance5 ай бұрын
@@daveparsons7756 Make sure when you put the front door back on that you lift up on the drum & sit it on the drum bearing, which is the plastic piece at the top of the door that has 2 white & 2 green drum slides. You can also make sure the drum is pushed back into the bearing all the way cause when you remove the front door the drum will drop down & from the tension of the belt it could come out of the bearing. That's about the only thing I can think of for the issue you're having since you didn't remove the belt or drum.

@patrickhawkins-The_BiG_HawK5 ай бұрын
@ApartmentMaintenance yea even the new ones I bought looked almost black but they are sold as green. This dryer has made me nutty. A tab that holds blower motor down snapped and now if I put a entire load in I can hear the blower fan grinding the plastic shroud. I think it is allowing the blower motor to tilt downward ever so slightly with enough weight in the drum. Even before I removed any blower motor bolts. When I attempted to lock tensioner pully behind the motor mount tab the motor itself kinda twisted to left. I'm assuming that tab being broken is allowing blower motor shaft to move enough to grind blower fan when it gets too much weight in drum. I should have piled up some bigger washers where tab broke and tried to lock it down better. GOOD NEWS WITH A SMALL LOAD ITS PERFECT AND SILENT. orginal problem was broken belt but once I got it apart, I did see the blower fan had grinded through small area towards bottom of the plastic exhaust tube enclosure/fan shroud.. sorry for writing a small novel here. Any experience with a issue like this?
@ApartmentMaintenance4 ай бұрын
