We bought both of these about 6 months ago replacing our front loader Samsung set that was 10 years old. We have had Zero problems so far and the washer cleaning power is amazing.

Accidentally posted this as a reply to another comment: How long did it take from purchase to delivery? I ordered mine beginning of October. 2 days prior to scheduled delivery we were informed that the washer won't be available until January. As a result we cancelled for the time being. Going to try again after lockdown. My current washer attempts to relocate EVERY spin cycle and I have to manually keep the knob moving or the washer stops all together. Cannot wait for my dream machines! Laundry is no longer loads of fun 😉 Thank you for a fellow Canadian review. (I apologize for the double post)

Got a GE UltraFresh front load washer as a gift from my daughter, as she was moving. Upon registration, found machine warranty was running out, so we bought the 3 year warranty offered. Then, the machine failed. No power, no display, just a mysterious clicking sound every 10 seconds or so. Called GE and scheduled a service call. Tech checked the machine and replaced the main board and the power supply. No success. Then he ordered a drive board for the next scheduled visit. Next visit, drive board was replaced. No success. Tech then ordered the front control and communication board and scheduled the next visit. Next visit, front control board and communication board was replaced. No success. Tech then deemed the washer unrepairable. Sent the info to GE and Assurant, the extended warranty company. They were supposed to contact me regarding replacing the machine within 24 to 48 hours. Never heard back from them. Contacted GE Customer Relations. Related all of the above info to them. They referred me to Assurant. The matter is still unresolved, my washer is still not functional, and I would recommend that the consumer NEVER BUY A GE APPLIANCE, EVER!

Your door doesn't close properly either because the machine is not leveled or the door has been slammed closed too many times or you've been hanging on the door or placing clothes on the door. The doors on front loaders are not as strong and sturdy as most people think they are. Not saying that's exactly what's wrong with the door but it maybe be a big factor as to why it's not properly closing. I hope this helps. Good luck.

I never owned a front loader and have reservations due to most are very low water use? Does this machine use a fair amount of water for cleaning and rinsing? I only need a large machine about 3 times a year for cleaning large queen comforters. I found going to a laundry mat is fine and I have noticed the commercial units use plenty of water which was nice! However being I am in the market for a new W/D pair I thought I would plunge into a new FLW. Considering LG and Electrolux as well.

@@RachaelM That would be great! I would love to know how you like the cleaning of your wash? Does it do well with really dirty clothes? Like ones a construction worker would be wearing? I don't do construction but just curious. Also does it rinse really well getting all the soap out of the clothes? I read so many reviews of both FL and TL washers doing a bad job due to poor agitation and lack of water. I love the technology of this machine and if it cleans great and my clothes come clean fresh with no residual soap I would be inclined to buy this set. . My old Amana Top washer had deep fill extra rinses which I loved. Always had clean fresh clothes. It was old school design with agitator manual water level settings. It has been a great washer but is making lots of noises now and sounds like it is on its way out. Repair isn't possible due to the parts are no longer available.

The clothes come out very clean compared to our old washer. I would say that a construction workers clothes would probably come out clean. It rinses very well. Never had a problem with soap being left over. My neighbour bought a new GE washer/dryer, and he said that the washer is noisy when filling because it adds water, measures, then adds more. I haven’t noticed that with this washer. It seems to add water at first, but not for a long time. I love these machines!

Hi - I've asked before but I get an IDK answer usually. I am very interested to know if the overnite mode when it dries a light load, can it be opened to pull out a shirt, kind of like a pause button?

I think the cycle can continue if you open the door. It says pause when I open the door during a regular wash cycle, and I press the start button to continue the cycle. I have never tried the overnight mode, but I will try it and let you know!

@@RachaelM thanks for answering! I have 2 reasons to open it when it goes into that unique tumbling drying mode. First if I need to grab a shirt, the other is, when I remember I throw some of those dryer woolzie balls into the dryer with some essence oil to make the clothes smell good. I'd like to do that in the GE machine too. But not being able to grab a shirt on the fly would be a deal breaker, especially since I would buy this machine wholly because it can dry my shirts over nite :) Thank you for your extra help! Usually don't find that on YT these days 😊

So I tried the overnight mode. It lasts 8 hours. I tried it on a pair of pants. The pants were slightly damp after 4 hours. I was able to pause and resume the cycle.

Just bought the washer had it delivered today is it normal for it not to dispense that much water and soap while in the washing cycle just asking because my old washer was a top loader and that had more water and soap would foam up

Yes. Front load washers use less water and soap and are therfore more efficient. Many power companies give rebates to customers for buying them.

These new washers look fancy, but a lot of them dont function properly, and they simply dont last. Hoping my speed queens last me until my old age. I hope you get lots of mileage out of these though, enjoy them!

Speed Queen service calls are significantly higher than GE. They last but they have their own issues and demerits. The front loader FF7 is expensive, the fill levels are pretty restrictive as well on FF, TC and TR washers.

@@flaviantropy Yes FF7 price is now over $2200. That's twice as much as the GE. So if the GE only lasts half as long, that's fine. Plus there's a 6-8 month wait for the FF7.

I have had my front loaders for yrs and the cons on any of them is they do not use enough water to get clothes completely clean nor completely rinsed, so you cannot put a big load in or else you will have to wash them a couple times. The ge soap that u have to use, you are suppost to use very little, which makes the fact that there is still a light soap felt or heard on the clothes after a wash absolutely crazy..you also do not want to leave clothes in washer for hours or over night as they will start to aquire a bad smell that you will not get back out no matter how much you wash them. Also a front loader does not agitate your clothes back and forth as its washing them, it just rolls them around and around. The pro of the machine is that they are made to run quietly, which is true for the first few yrs. My set is about 16 yrs old. I have had to replace the water pump and have inner tumbler replaced which without warranty would have cost me more to replace then just buying a new machine. My suggestion to anyone who is thinking on buying a pair do not use fabric sheets in dryer as it ruins the seal and if your buying them with the thought you'll get more in your load, you'll have to wash them 2×s and do a rinse 3-4 times per that load..

What is that catch basin all about? I have never seen that on a washer. It looks like it is a pain to empty. Your video went to a black screen at 4.02 minutes.

When I emptied the catch basin it had hair in it and a small amount of lint. The video keeps going after the screen goes black, it’s just audio after that point. Thanks for watching!

That is the drain catch. It is meant to be used when the washer fails to drain water. Sometimes hair ties or other debris can clog the drain. This is only me at to be opened when needed. Not regularly after each wash. Hope this helps. Good video. I love my washer dryer.

All washers have this. But many are not easily accessible. It’s sometimes called a coin catch. On mine, I opened it once after 10 years and found a few coins. And a piece of plastic. I had to remove the bottom toe kick on my Maytag to get to it. This is much easier. I’d suggest using a towel instead of a dish, and open it slowly.

I just got these. The instructions says to remove the 4 shipping bolts and 2 brackets. I think I only need to remove the shipping bolts, not the 2 metal brackets in the back. Did you remove the brackets with the 8 screws as well?

The material that GE puts on the detergent cabinet are some different material which absorbs mold and don't allow to grow. Those are blue materials.

Has anyone had an issue with lint collecting on top of the lint trap? It's a lot and there is also lint amongst the clothes. For as much as these cost, this should not be happening! Just wondered if something was wrong with mine or if it was a common problem.

Hello, I wanted to demonstrate how to properly remove and clean the pump filter. Some models are different in the way you open the compartment so I wanted to demonstrate. The purpose of the pump filter is to catch lint, hair, or anything small so it doesn’t remain in the washer. The manual recommends opening it and removing things that were caught. The manual explains: “Due to the nature of the front-load washer, it is sometimes possible for small articles to pass to the pump. The washer has a filter to capture lost items so they are not dumped to the drain. To retrieve lost items, clean out the pump filter.”

The delivery men dropped it off, and removed our old washer/dryer. All we had to do was hook up the dryer to the outlet and the exhaust. The dryer and the washer both have water intake which needed the water supply lines included with the shipment. So the water lines were attached to the wall, and then we plugged in the washer. The washer is very heavy, so we did the washer first then the dryer

This is by far the worst washing machine. Does not wash nor rinse clothes properly. the amount of water the machine uses is way reduced. We have had the machine for 4 months and slowly started noticing my daughters white clothes not getting cleaned. Especially the underarm area which turned gray and yellow on all her whites as well as odor. The washer also does not rinse all of the soap out no matter the cycle as well as using the extra rinse option and the machine itself is very loud. Save your money and look else where .. horrible piece of engineering. Also is not easy on the water bill because we have to keep running the extra rinse cycle. the other issue is if you a smaller laundry room run both the washer and the dryer at the same time the heat from the dryer and moisture from the washer will cause your walls to sweat or collect moisture while they are both running. so resolve this we have to leave the window open i have to say the noise generated by the so called venting sounds like a semi truck and for us is a problem .. machine does not rinse or wash your clothes properly .. we kept it for 4 months and got rid of it.
