You sir, are a scholar and a gentleman. Just happened to me, and took 30 seconds to correct without costing a dime. Other forums' suggestion would have cost roughly 160$ for a new control board. For anyone who reads this, please try this first, before jumping the conclusion of replacing parts.

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! I am house sitting for family on vacation and their machine just started last night by itself, sounded like it was trying to drain and was empty. Nothing was responding to anything I was trying. I unplugged it hoping overnight it would reset. Nope. I plugged in earlier today and it was still doing it. I took a video and was about to send it to my husband and then I thought to search KZbin…and here you are!! They have a different washer and it reset at 6 clicks. Your instructions worked perfectly!!! Thank you!!!

Thank you so much for posting this. My washer just started "draining" all by itself but with no cycle running and no water in it. I was able to fix it using your method!! After rotating dial 7 clicks all of the lights started blinking and it changed sounds but i just let go and left it alone for a few seconds and it stopped. Then I unplugged it and plugged back in and it seems to be back to normal. So grateful for your video!!

Thanks, this worked for me! I did have to go through the steps 3 times. As a follow up I also had to do reset the motor trick (unplug machine for a minute, plug it back in, then lift and close the lid six times within 30 secs). These games we have to play with modern chips, mother boards etc is silly! Bring back simplicity, I say.

Just walked into the house from doing errands and found my GE washer (panel looks just like yours) running and making the noise you described (pretty well). Did your secret process. It worked after the 4th try. Thanks for the video
@yoga83344 жыл бұрын
Interesting, just watched another video where the guy attributes the problem to the water valve not closing completely, which results in a miniscule drip, which causes the water flow sensor to activate. That activation in conjunction with the machine being off, causes the machine to get very confused and to start running. His fix is to replace the electric valve assembly. This got my interest because I noticed just a few drops of water inside my machine when I discovered it running unexpectedly. That video is titled "How to Fix #GE #Washer NOT Shutting Off and Blinking Display | GE Error Code 7". Not exactly the same model but very similar. This one has an electronic display panel, while mine does not. If the problem occurs again, I will replace this part. I would feel more comfortable actually having done something to fix the problem, rather than just making it go away for a year. Again, thanks for your video.

Thanks so much for that. I have a digital display model. Tried the unplugging, 45 degree tilt forward, 45 degree tilt back, plugging back in to no avail. My display would flash quickly and the buttons did nothing. Tried spinning the dial previously with no luck. Ended up unplugging, and trying this again. Mine was 7 clicks as well but didn't need to hit the pause/start button. I simply did seven gentle clicks and it made it stop sound and everything was good. Thought I'd share my finding in the event it helps someone else.

Try this….I unplugged the washer and grounded the cord with alligator clip jumper cable. Simple but it worked for me. Take one end and put on round ground part of plug, then put the other end on positive end. If you don’t know which one is which, touch both! I plugged it back in the wall, hit the reset button and it now works. I assume that this resets the electronics. Similar to letting it sit for three days…thanks ron

The noise you’re hearing is the drain pump kicking on most times one of the inlet valve is leaking into the basket causing an automatic drain which it supposed to do very common on this model .
@rougebaba38872 жыл бұрын
Same washer I have and same issue.... What I discovered is that water is getting into some Chambers where it's not supposed to go, probably because I've been using the extra fill button, and somehow the washer detects this and is trying to drain it. What I did to fix it was unplug it, tilted to 45 degrees forward resting it on something, it may not need to be a full 45°, leaving it like that for about 30 minutes. Then I tilted it backwards 45° or so, then set it up right and plug it back in. This causes the water in those chambers to run back into the main tank and will drain out on its own then. It may cycle up and drain or it may just sit in there and wait till you do another load.

I am a maintenance guy and I have stacked washer and dryer issues. Just was working on one that was having a similar issue but what I did was flipped the breaker and opened the control panel where the main boards are for washer and dryer. There was a ton of lint and dust all over the main boards. I blew all the dust out of it and cleaned it up and put it back and reset the breaker switch and I couldn’t get it to malfunction anymore… not sure if the dust on control board was the fix or not hoping that was the issue. Issue Was that washer was locking and unlocking over and over and was agitating with no water and with door open as if possessed… after I blew out the dust from main board panel it is now seeming to operate just fine… but TBD.
