The results of the 2 year timeskip! Gear 4's reveal is quite a peak moment in the arc and really sets the stage for the biggest power struggle in the story so far. Its also quite an amazing application of his powers, most impressively imo is the use of elastic force for flight. Also worth noting. Luffy had this power in his back pocket since the timeskip resumed, meaning both Hordy and Caesar were both considered too weak to pull this out.

Worst case, he could have used G4 for the finishing blows but it never came to that. It's funny to think that an inanimate ship was the hardest fight for Luffy until Doflamingo xD Pacifistas? Lol. Hordy? Irrelevant. Caesar? A clown. But the Noah? That was the real shit here!

And while we are at badly worded subs a honourable mention goes out to the rezero subs, specifically the 'who ist rem' and 'Emilias baby joke' scenes. Both times all the tension is killed, because the sentences are worded the wrong way. Irks me every time i watch it.

Gear 4th is probably my favorite transformation of Luffy's solely for how creatively it combines what we've learned about luffy's powers and armament haki: Elasticity is all about resisting change via deformation, aka how much a given material wants to return to its original form. Armament Hakis whole purpose is literally to resist deformation of limbs or weapons by armoring them. So when you combine Luffy's rubbery body with armament haki, you get a material that can stretch, but really, really, really, REALLY wants to return to its normal form. The result? You get a material that practically EXPLODES back into place with how much potential energy it stores.

Fun fact about Doffy's "Overheat" attack, where he shoots out that single flaming string. He's saying "over hito", which sounds like overheat in english, but "hito" is just "string" in Japanese. It's yet another pun attack name, which is great.

its a grammar thing for gear fourth. in Japanese it would actually be said as gear fourth. whereas, in English its the other way around. Luffy is using the "engrish" way of saying the words in English but with Japanese grammar. while the subtitles and dub corrected to proper english. no idea about chopper's points.

Gear 4 reminds me of how much I like Luffy's kit and interesting ways he manipulates his body to gain strength. Gear 2nd manipulates his blood to gain speed, Gear 3rd manipulates his bones so that he can deliver devastating blows and Gear 4th manipulates his muscles which grants him great physical strength and defense.
