When the sound cuts so you can hear Luffy's heartbeat and he says "beat loudly, heartbeat" and the clap bringing back the drums of liberation gave me literal chills I started watching one piece only a few years ago we had just started wano so I had never gotten to be there when everyone gets to see one of these major turning point moments for Luffy in his struggle against his foes. I felt the moment and I can say definitively this felt like how people felt when they saw Goku go super Saiyan. That moment will be a core memory for the rest of my life. I know the emotions that I'm supposed to feel aren't the same as the first super Saiyan moment, but the energy, the excitement, the feeling of wanting to jump out of the moving car i was in while watching it so i could shout to the world about thr incredible historical moment in anime that i got to experience first hand, not having been years late to the party. I think this episode was nearly perfect from start to finish, and I get the complaints about reusing sound and visual effects from dragon ball, but the majority of sound effects used on cartoon network had been used in many boomerang cartoons before them. I don't really see it as a deal, but then again I haven't watched dragonball by myself I've only ever watched it pieces at my buddies place 😅. I grew up really enjoying johnny test as well and that show had a sound effect for literally everything, and is notorious for its use of the whip sound.

Loved the ep but still got Zoro vs King as my favourite Wano ep. My only reason for this is that King vs Zoro felt like a battle with a true climax yet this ep was hype but didn't have the same impact on me. In terms of how I see characters this ep was hype but didn't feel like the impact was there. It had me laughing and smiling while watching but couldn't get me swinging around a sword listening to the eps soundtrack like Zoro vs King did. Im loving the sound effects with gear 5, you can tell they dug into that tom and jerry/Otsomatsu-kun bag, my only complaint would be they dont let certain sounds linger and repeat them too quickly (like when Luffy is bam-baming kaido last episode) That and they dont linger on the goofy cartoon "consequences" (like kaido and luffy being burnt and coated in soot) as long as old cartoons, but its hard i imagine to mix those stylings in with the "expected" anime hype that the gear 5 fights need to be

I wouldn't say no effect, but Awakenings in general seem to overpower Haki. Law's powers had no effect on Big Mom until he used his Awakening. Doflamingo couldn't hurt or even defend himself against Gear 4 Luffy until he used his Awakening.

Seeing the animation quality and experimental drawing styles they're using, makes me excited af to see what's coming up in the manga get animated. Especially when it comes to seeing how dirty they do kid. I bet they animate TF out of that panel 😂

This was a fantastic episode! It was even better than the previous. It’s because we got to see Gear 5 in full force. And it once again it was because this added motion and sound and color to what we already saw in the manga. GUM-GUM GIGANT was perfect!!!! Seeing Luffy with just the eyes on the black screen. Luffy jumping out of Kaido’s mouth makes so much more sense than him coming out of Kaido’s eyes. I loved the Woody Woodpecker like laugh Luffy did when he also did the tire like spinning with his legs right after the blast breath. I always got the sense that Luffy was actually jumping up and down when using Gum-Gum Jump Rope. I loved that when he got tired, he didn’t just deflate but turned gray and desaturated. And that when he powered back up again, he “chose the correct beat!” And the gorgeous colors!!! And then "Over the Top" starts to play! Everyone’s reaction to Luffy coming through the roof was hilarious. I almost wanted to see Marco’s eyes pop out too. I’m glad they kept in Yamato’s line about Luffy being white even though that was clearly meant to tell manga readers what Luffy’s coloring is. But they tweaked the line so it sounds less like she’s telling us and more like she’s wondering it to herself or Momo. And it’s always fun to see Luffy try to think. And I liked that they added in the first 2 pages of 1046 with Zunesha celebrating Joyboy returning but also affirming that this is still Luffy and not him being possessed by Joyboy like what happens in a bunch of other Shounen manga.

I’m so glad we got the key points in this fight and Kaido looking very dope in this. Luffy power down from nikka to drained was peak. Now we have one more episode of Luffy in nikka before we are done with the raid that’s crazy

@@Arthur-ek7nd yh I just checked out the manga panels in depth, damn man Gear 5 is really busted, he truly can turn even living things including real life people into rubber. Come to think of it the only applications I have seen of this are with Luffy and kid (him being able to turn opponents to magnetic materials assigned with polarities)

I mean if you think about it, Big Mom has like 3 Devil Fruits and Kaido has like 6 because of all the Elemental attacks they can use. Doflamingo can fly like Shiki, cut like Mr.1, can control people and he even got a fire whip. Katakuri can shape himself into anything, including spikes which is Miss Doublefinger's whole power or sticky like Trebol. Marco has both Logia and Paramecia powers despite being a Zoan, and has a shockwave attack. It's not just Luffy and Law.
