One thing we've seen in the anime when Luffy transforms is that he releases a lot of Haki. Maybe Luffy is right now in a rougher form of his power and he needs to learn to contain his power and keep all that Haki inside. That might give him a stronger Haki and/or longer time in Gear 5.

Nah I feel like that wouldn't work, at least I don't think it fit with the idea of the fruit. Knowing the rules of the fruit would just make Luffy, you know... less free? Being bounded by something, make it expected, and hence you don't get that same level of freedom, which is the power of the fruit. Kinda like comedy, you can't force it, you can't prepare for it, you gotta let it flow naturally

One of the idea's about this is that luffy always knew he couldn't be pirate king on his own, luffy is nearing his maximum potential while everyone else would be dead weight in a fight vs the threats we are facing now. I think now the story is for the crew to come together and show how they can be as a sum instead of individual parts, I believe joyboy failed because his crew wasn't fully behind him.

The Gorosei called Luffy's Gear 5 "Nika's white form", that makes me wonder if there might be something like a "red form", there is a chapter of the anime (chapter 1091) where Luffy gets mad because the food he is seeing isn't real, and he transforms into some sort of Gear 5 form with red hair, I think that might be a clue to Luffy's new form, Nika's red form that represents Nika's anger.

13:47 personal theory, Gear 5th is the hybrid form of the awakened Nika fruit and the full transformation turns him into an even stronger version that's a Luffy of the original Nika's race, either a Giant or a Buccaneer depending on which Oda has in store as Joyboy's race. We don't have many more powerups, and Luffy has to find a way to negate Blackbeards dark dark fruit even more than the Gorosei or Blackbeard will grab Gear 5 Luffy and drain his Devil Fruit powers like he has done to others. If Luffy learns it I see Zoro learning it too, with Sanji picking up something too keeping the power trio above Jinbe. Also I subscribe to Yasopp teaching his son about advanced observation haki, or Van Augur will destroy Usopp.(but that likely means Yasopp is the only survivor of whatever Blackbeard does to Shanks crew later this year)

Pretty sure the reason why the Gorosei didn't go after Roger was because he didn't have the DF, with the foreshadowing from what little we have seen of Imu, I would wager Imu+Gorosei have been anticipating the return of Nika and planned to jump him at the earliest time possible (in this case, egghead, b/c luffy was confirmed to have Nika fruit in Wano). I always think that Luffy had a logia fruit. As the definition of element in One Piece is not pure element, it's a substance (sand, for example). Rubber is a kind of substance for sure. Tbf, the durability and regeneration seems to be the only thing Warcury has over him. Each Gorosei have a unique quirk and durability's specific to the Boar as you can still see Saturn and Ju Peter still get cut/slabbed.

I think the best explanation for their passivity is their contempt for the races of one piece. They consider everyone not a celestial dragon to be an insect. Do you feel like an insect is ever a threat to you, your ambitions or your plans? No. They’re just bugs. When you see one and don’t kill it, you’ve granted it life at your whim and you could end that life on those same whims. The machinations of the insect don’t matter. that was a really weird plot twist. For god's sake. Kaido was in base. And Luffy was using Ryou. Ryou as we know 'bypasses' physical durability as the damage done is internal. Warcury is in full Zoan form. I have a theory about Luffy‘s power up that i haven’t seen anywhere. We all know that Zoan fruits have a will of their own and we have seen how Luffy and Lucci are influenced by their DF in their awakened forms, but what if the user is able to overtake and erase the DF will! We know that the opposite is absolutely possible, so this should be also possible. Right now Luffy in G5 is basically Nika lending him power cause their wills align and have the same goal, freedom. But it is still borrowed power, there is no way that he is using 100% of it. Only by erasing Nika‘s will from the DF he will be able to unlock 100% of it‘s potential and of course Luffy being Luffy he will call it Gear 6!

@Ohara My theory is - HAKI works against any devil fruit and what Gorosei have is absolute monster level haki and they are even able to explode heads with just presence so even though Luffy has a literal GOD level devil fruit it can still be fought with use of HAKI so the next step should be a weapon that can nullify haki (maybe a staff, since he is inspired from Monkey king ) or a he himself becomes Sun god and no longer remains the Luffy that transforms back to human after some time. and the possibility that he becomes the god himself is by getting his memories back from 800 years ago which are stored on Laugh-tale and when other people like roger watch his memories they just laugh cause he was that good of human being with awesome life

At 16:00 this kind of backs up my theory before about laughtale being the ancient kingdom or at least having a close connection to it. If we go back and think about roger and crew laughing and saying that they were too early but also laughing because maybe it was said that they need the nika DF since it’s users heartbeat when awakened can access and power up all the ancient technology left behind. So they laughed knowing that no one on rogers crew had any DF powers let alone the one for what’s on laughtale and given that even the voice of all things told roger that someone will surpass them (which we all know is luffy). That’s what I think but I would love for you to think about it and see if it makes sense.

In that scene they never connect their swords to the goldfish, but send out a wave of haki, which very well could be this wi-fi haki Shanks know of. It would make sense if Luffy would learn this form of Haki from the giants in Elbaf, who once learned it from their god, Nika.

I think Luffy's next stage of power evolution could very well be a more hybrid form of Gear 5 that allows him to take things a bit more serious and also use his Haki. We need to remember that up until now Luffy has not used Haki together with Gear 5 at all, every attack working is simply part of his fruit effecting the world around him and we know he isn't using observation Haki since he keeps taking hits and reacting in a cartoonish way, and as for Conquer's Haki well I put that the same as the armament in that he doesn't need it for weaker enemies since they would need to justify Gear 5 first but also since he hasn't used armament with Gear 5 then he definitely hasn't with Conquer's either.

Just by basing it on the previous chapters, the dynamic between the strawhats, kid pirate and law’s group is that out of the three pirate group the straw hats always come out of their predicament in good shape(not counting before time-skip). So I can see the straw hats pulling out of there just fine hinting a upcoming massive war. just don’t forget the straw hats pirate alliance group that came out of Doflamingo arc that consist of strong pirates from the new world and all the people the straw hats met will be involved. This will be a decisive battle that will conclude the war that was started 800 years ago, the clash between the world gov and all Luffy’s allies will happen. This arc is a pivotal part of the whole massive storyline, it’s only obvious because we can actually see these 5 elders put in work, instead of just them sitting around.

Haki is the a mysterious power that allows living beings to use their spiritual energy to develop abilities, so what if instead of Luffy having to manfiest Haki, He becomes Haki, Or a spiritual Being, Maybe Haki Is Just Spiritual energy taking physical form and The Gorsei have physical form but are spiritual being or like Astral Projection. Maybe Instead of Luffy Manfiesting Haki he Becomes the Haki or a Spiritual being.

Back in the Sabo flashback, when he entered the Gorosei room when Cobra was being killed by them, they also transformed at will into their Yokai form, so I'm fairly sure they can transform whenever they want

Kuma might sacrifice himself to get the Straw Hats off the island. One more burst of energy to paw the ship with his daughter on board to Elbaf. Kuma gets left behind and explodes the plant that York was talking about. Would be a fitting way to end his story but also get Bonney as a Straw Hat. It would suck but I can see it being a call back to Sabaody sending the Straw Hats off again to the place they can get stronger, Elbaf.
