Gear: Enduristan Tornado 2 Dry Bags
(Or 'How to fit all your camping gear into a 20L bag'!)
This is a video I wasn't going to do, but then I found the Enduristan Tornado 2 dry bags really useful, and in particular found I could fit all my camping gear into one of them, so I thought I'd do one.
It's a quick look at the Small and Medium bags (links below) which have capacities of 20L and 32L respectively. (L-51L and XL-82L are also available but way bigger than I need.)
peakmotorcycles.com/products/tornado-2-pack-sack
I show the Medium bag, inside and out, then unpack and repack my Small bag with the following:
2-man tent
Sleeping bag
Sleeping bag liner
Pillow
Camping mat
Jetboil Stove
Gas Cannister
Mug and cutlery
Helinox Armchair
I then fit them to the bike with Rok straps (I have since found my Enduristan ones!)
That's it really, I hope it's interesting and useful. If it is, please like and subscribe!
Thanks

Good to hear and I like your priorities. Some would get close with just the beer, but to manage the ice too is pro level!

I have the 32 and 51 liter Enduristan Tornado 2's. Absolute love them in combination with the ROK straps. Never used my Kriega 10, 20 and 30 liter us packs anymore

Yup. The same. 🤣. I last used my Kriega US bags on my Speed Triple R that I sold in 2019. Actually, I think I tried a US-10 once on my CRF, but two of the hooks came off on a trail and I decided they weren’t right for a trail bike.

Thanks for the thorough review of a quality product. I just put the 20L bag on my Amazon motorcycle list. I think my entire backpacking kit will easily fit inside it. We have some great State Park campgrounds near Dallas. Thinking of a weekend trial run when the weather cools off a bit. Happy Camping

@@0HARE I know, I used to live in Houston. First summer I was there we had more than 100 days when the temperature never dropped below 100F. I also remember that first day each fall when the first cold front had pushed down and when I opened the door to leave home, I didn’t get the hot blast in the face 🤣. I guess Dallas is similar, but hotter, and maybe less damp?

I have always used a cheap dry bag. But seeing those little practical details by Enduristan I start thinking... ;-) Thanks, Günter

Nothing wrong with cheap dry bags, I've also used them for years. Sometimes with some anti-slip matting and various straps to secure them and they've been fine. I guess you find ways round the little things that would otherwise make them better. The enduristan guys seem to have done a decent job of adding a few bits to address some of the (minor) problems. It's all content though 🤣. Ride safe.

So did I, but with this you get the advantage of top down loading where the cheap dry bags are mostly side lodaded or you need to put them vertical to load, fiddly in my opinion. The biggest revelation to me however were the ROK straps. If you use any kind of dry bag / soft bag, this is a game changer both in user friendly straping down and safety.

Aye, I’m trying to find time to put the Kouba Link on my bike but the weekends just come and go. MotoGP this one, then two in Ireland, one in London, one in France, so perhaps October before I get back to something more interesting. Until then, it’s luggage. Good stuff too!

Nice video! I’m trying to downsize and I think I could get by with the small. I’m attempting to use my Husqvarna 701 as an adventure bike so reducing size and weight is important.
@PeakMotorcycles
@PeakMotorcycles 2 жыл бұрын
I think it’s down to how and where you want to ride. I also have a R1250GS. On knobblies they are surprisingly capable (I did a weekend at the BMW Off Road Skills place in Wales and was blown away by what they can do). That said, my GS is great as a long distance, mostly road, tourer. On trails, and with luggage, it’s too heavy and the extra power etc. is wasted. The CRF300 Rally can’t compete on a long road journey, but for a relatively light adventure bike (I think even equipped for an adventure, a little over 150kg is possible, stock weight is 153kg, but changing the exhaust, bars and battery saves around 6kg, of which you probably add that back with rack, luggage, bash plate etc.) I expect my accessorised GS is close to 270kg. Not sure where the 701 fits, it’s definitely closer to the CRF, and if you don’t mind the reduced power, it might be an option. Also bear in mind that a lot on the CRF has been made to a budget, so it’ll probably need a few extra tweaks if it’ll be a 701 replacement. Good luck though. I’m sure you will have fun whatever you choose.

Hey peak, I got a mechanical question. Do you hear a high pitched sound during engine braking? Mine almost has a screeching sound when I'm engine braking. I took my bike to the dealer and the mechanic says it's "normal." I'm no expert, but it doesn't seem normal. I may have to take it to another dealer.

Hi Box 😉, not that I’d noticed but I’ll go for a ride and see. I’ll record it if I can. Won’t be until next week though as I’m at the MotoGP until Sunday evening. Screeching is rarely a good thing…. Stay safe.

Hi mate, could you tell me the modèle of your Helinox armchair please.
@PeakMotorcycles
@PeakMotorcycles 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Didier, It's a Helinox Zero. helinox.eu/collections/ultra-lightweight-chairs/products/chair-zero I think it was the first one they made. I've had it for a few years. It's comfortable and strong. 500g is still a fair weight but to not have to sit on the ground I don't mind. It is quite low and you have to be mindful of soft ground, but otherwise I think it's awesome, even though it's a bit of a luxury for moto camping!

Buen video!. Es posible que tengas las bolsas laterales de 17 litros? talla M? me gustaría saber (si las tienes), que capacidad real de carga tienen o si es mejor comprar las de talla L. Gracias!
@PeakMotorcycles
@PeakMotorcycles 2 жыл бұрын
¿A qué bolsos te refieres?

Hi peak, according to Enduristan M is 17 litre and L is 24 litres. Can you please confirm that the bags in this vlog are 17 litres each? Cheers mate Answered by your August vlog. Yeah I think L 12 bag's are the way to go
@PeakMotorcycles
@PeakMotorcycles 2 жыл бұрын
Hi, I took the sizes from the Enduristan website: enduristan.co.uk/collections/tail-bags/products/tornado-2 The bags in the video are a small (20L) and a medium (32L). May I ask where you saw the 17 for a M and 24 for a L? I must admit I haven’t measured them, I just assumed the numbers on the website and documentation were accurate.
@PeakMotorcycles
@PeakMotorcycles 2 жыл бұрын
Just to check, do you mean the bags in this video (the Tornado2 dry bags) or the Blizzard Panniers? The Blizzards are 12L for a small, 17L for a medium and 24L for the large. I guess that’s what you meant 😁. The video that these comments are on is about the dry bags strapped to the rack, not the panniers. And my panniers are the large, so 24L total, 12L per side. I hope this makes sense.

@@PeakMotorcycles cheers! I see they have the size lettered on to the bags so the Blizzard XL are 17l. Glad to hear you went for the 12l as they look big enough. Most vloggers appear to land on the 12l and they look big enough. How are they holding up?

So far so good, but I've only had a few opportunities to use them properly. I also have the inner bags, which are ok, but I think I'm losing space with them so I need to experiment a bit more with them.
