Nice job! I bought complete knob from Aliexpress, but I would do this on my old knob. And for me cross stich pattern to sew 2 pieces should be better choice

Looking at doing mine on my Renault. What sort of leather did you use?
@devisediy59042 жыл бұрын
I am not 100% what is that leather type. All I know is that its from a real animal and the thickness is around 1.5 mm. (I got that leather from a friend. He is doing steering wheels wrapping, and it was a scrap piece. ) If you are not sure where to get a some leather, I can recommend checking with the shops/places for furniture/car seats upholstery.

Thank you , John! Unfortunately , I have no idea from what animal is the leather. I got mine from a friend. He is doing steering wheels wrapping and it was a scrap piece. However , it is not a thick leather - around 1.5 mm.

how can i remove that aluminum head without removing the knob?
@devisediy59045 жыл бұрын
Hey! Not too sure what are you referring to exactly, however if you mean the plastic top with the gear numbers and the shifting pattern, just use flathead screwdriver. Pry it gently from the bottom, just below the "4" symbol.

neh...wrong method...you've should glue all of the leather to the knob..and stretch it so no lines are visible on the top...otherwise the leather will spin on the knob with time..use a mellet to force the leather into shape...its good but...doesnt look profesional...i did mine on my volvo...and it looks like the oem one...congratulation anyway!

Thank you for the suggestions! The leather is pretty tight and it's not spinning over the knob. You are correct about the wrinkles on the top as they do not very professional, however currently they are not that visible due to the leather stretching and fitting itself over the knob. It works for me like that however , if it's a matter of trial and error with the template. I think the it should be slightly cut on the top , so these wrinkles do not appear.
