The rear axle on your unit here looks very much like the one that was on the front of my BX1850 when I had it. I remember looking through service manual for my BX and I was fascinated by the way that Kubota ran the shaft from the diff to that pair of bevel gears to the angled pinion shaft, which then worked in reduction with the ring gear attached to the hub. Always thought it was an ingenious setup, but as you say it's necessary to make sure all 3 parts of the axles have lube. Looks like it was a good thing you got the gear cases serviced!

accully they can use the same axles if you want because they will fit wich is good thing kubota parts will fit most same of the F and gf series and bx's with same parts wich it saves you time wich is nice and parts are cheaper and less money then john deeres and newhollands

Michael said it all. Many models have the same parts from 1986 to today. The kit isn't that expensive for this. I just received a nice Canada Post delivery. Very nice channel art. Thank you Everett.

Another great on site repair my friend, also I really liked the part where you had the four video’s running at the same time, very cool I must try that my self. Great video, Have a fantastic weekend.

Heh, I tried the same (heat, and air) when I had the exact same problem. All I ended up doing was covering everything in gear oil and my garage stank for a week. I will have to get it apart ASAP. I just topped it up with oil and ran it as I had grass to cut. Doesn't look like a big deal and I'll order the gaskets to be safe. Thanks for the video.

yeah the parts for the old f series still avaliable wich why i trust kubotas 100% because they all ways keep parts for older models and newer models avaliable on the market plus old kubotas accully still has there value on them wich is nice

I finally took mine apart. I think at least part of the issue is the actual hub bearings, particularly on one side where they seem extremely loose, to the point I believe the large outside bevel gear is cutting into the housing (source of a lot of the filings). The bearings themselves are surprisingly cheap (under $10ea.). Everything minus the assorted bevel gears is inexpensive.

kubota parts are pretty cheap and affordable like there gaskets

Thanks Robert, I hope to be in front of it over the winter. Not much time this past summer.

They do like their clean oil. The shrapnel came from somewhere so ya go looking or wait for an even more expensive failure. Lots of pricy things in there eh.Neat setup on this machine bud. You get what you pay for with Kubota.

You are makin me think now. I hope its just normal wear. I think I will change it again next year. I edited out a lot of use full stuff. This video could have been 25 minutes. The kit isn't that expensive because Kubota have many models with the same parts. Bx Gf and all F series from 1986 to today take the same parts. Thanks Dean

@@JourneymanRandy Put a magnetic plug in the fill hole. That way you can inspect gear cases without dropping oils etc. Easy and inexpensive. I have found though that shrapnel anywhere in system is not a good thing for sure.

Thanks for this video. Doing the diff. oil change, getting my f3060 ready for winter. The book says 90 weight gear oil or kubota UDT 2 hydraulic oil can be used. What do you use in your machines?
@JourneymanRandy11 ай бұрын
The last one I did was the F2400. I used 80W90 gear oil.
@JourneymanRandy11 ай бұрын
UDT is listed as an option. I find 80w90 is much thicker and less likely to leak.

I removed the bottom 4 bolts on one side and dropped the lower gear/cover. Had to heat up the plug and beat a t45 into it and got it loose. Put some rtv on it for the time being and anti-sieze on the crappy plug. Gonna fill it with udt2 to flush it for the time being until I get new gaskets and drain plugs for both sides. Thanks!

As always, maintenance is key, i think you guessed it right, that lower pinion gear is not supposed to move, something isn't right there .... that drive system looks pretty complicated, a lot of parts which can fail,....
@JourneymanRandy6 жыл бұрын
It is complicated but seems to work well. I should have changed the gear oil a long time ago. Thanks Mike.
