Gear: Red Wing Classic Round 6 review

-Both pairs you see in the video are the same model in exactly the same size. The older ones have been used for 2 years so far and they still work great!
-A few other tidbits of info...
*since its all natural leather, it does get stiffer on colder days and softer on hotter days. Not enough where it shrinks or expands but it is noticeable in the feel.
*It costs $100 to resole the boot. It's not free. You can resole it with any sole in the Heritage collection though.
*The tongue is also a thinner/softer leather than the rest of the boot.
-I've got quite a bit of experience with these things and just boots in general. Ask me any questions about them in the comment section below.

They also came out with a women's line starting September 2016. The women's line comes in smaller sizes, minor tweaks to the shape, and softer leather so the break-in process does not take as long. Nor as painful.

Tell me about. I love the way my Blacksmith boots look but hate the breaking in process. Wearing them around the house doesn’t really break them in. I really have to take those bad boys out . The Iron Rangers were a piece of cake though. I think it also depends on the type of leather. Some are harder to break than others.

Are these stiff at first? I have the blacksmiths from the heritage line and a pair of 202s from the work line and they were both stiff. What are these like? They look supple out of the box.

I went down 1.5 sizes as well. They're super tight before break in, but fit like a glove after

Adam Harmon I only went down a half and they are so damn narrow. Do they make them that way purposely? I don’t understand the reason behind the small width. Well, a guy posted that the width felt just right on Red Wing but when they broke in he knew he got the wrong size because they were too big and I think he sold them.

I was 100% certain I got them too small, but the dude at the RW store assured me they'd break in and fit perfectly. I have wide feet too. My IR's hurt so damn bad for a while. They were ridiculously tight...but dude was right. They broke in and they fit perfectly now. I think unbroken RW's are narrow, but you'll be surprised how much they'll loosen up

So true, their sizing system is fucking Victorian. And it doesn't suit anyone. I got size fitted in the London shop, and had to suggest going down a half a size, then after a week slowly breaking them in, it's clear I should have gone a full size down. That is fucking pathetic.

Why are bluchers so prevalent? A moc-toed shoe is more comfortable. It must be cheaper to produce the blucher style. I wore 6-inch, moc-toe Red Wings for decades until they stopped making them with the reddish brown sole with a heel. Always gotta fuck with someyihing good.

Yes I did. I had to go down 1.5 from a size 9.5 to a size 8. The 1.5 seems only to apply to those with 9.5 inch feet from what I understand. Everyone else goes down by either 1 or .5.

A A it depends on the last. But even shoes made on the same last don’t fit the the same . I have 2 Red Wing made on the 8 last but one fits tighter than the other. It depends on how pliable the leather is. The Briar Oil Slick is hell to break in.

After purchasing 2 pairs of boots and two insoles from Redwing boots, one thing I learned is money should be irrelevant when you are buying quality products. You are essentially complaining that it is expensive to change the pads on 6 piston brembo brakes. You are welcome to go to Walmart and purchase some steel toe boots for $85, hopefully if you do that your mattress is from a different higher quality store because you will be spending a lot of time laying on it.

Its been my experience that if a shoe is made in China I need a size 11 ,with RedWings I need a size 10.5

Yea.......luckily the Heritage line is all made in the USA. At least that's one of the features hyped up about them.

875 is very popular , but 9111 is really ocmfortable

That's the reason why I got the 9111. The 875's just didn't fit me properly. I tried on 6 different pairs of 875's alone. They just didn't agree me. The 9111 was an instant difference.

Yea.......they use different lasts to mold the boots. I guess the Number 8 works better for the both of us.
