I commend you for making these power supply videos. It angers me more than anything when power supplies are falsely advertised as isolated when they are just a daisy chain in a box. You’re helping out many people 👍

@leothemetal Жыл бұрын

I bought an ISO that powers 8 devices. I'm powering an EVENTIDE SPACE REVERB, PETERSON STROBE TUNER, & a DEPT 10 DUALDRIVE. Plugging these in, the Dept 10 DualDrive powers itself off eventually, taking between 2 & less than 10 minutes. Switching outputs yields the same results. I have a Truetone Milliamp tester & the DualDrive pulls no more than 440 ma. I contacted Thomann about this; they suggested a doubler cable. This is very disheartening, very disappointing.
@joserra793 жыл бұрын
Hi! What Daisy chain power adaptor are you using? I am considering to power my two digital pedals (310mA each) getting a Truetone One spot Daisy chain but not sure about possible feedback noise. Otherwise...I could get a Powerplant ISO 1 pro instead.
@leothemetal3 жыл бұрын
Hey there. I'm not using any daisy chains ever since I've got Powerplants. Before that I was using some daisy chain cables with line6 adaptor for relay G30 wireless system, that was basically delivered with G30 system. But I had a couple of analog pedals like tuner and overdrive, and that's all. With 310 mA you should probably go with Iso 1, it's twice the price of Truetone, but you will not run into issues with noise. According to Thomann reviews of Truetone, it has a lot of noise even with analog devices without daisy chain. I don't know if it's true, never tested it myself, but I can assure that Powerplant Iso 1 is really good one wihtout any issues. Besides you get multiple outputs for another devices, if you need any.

Hi very good review, thanks a lot, can i just ask you one thing please ? The modular models like the ISO-1AC Pro Modular don't use the power supply like the ISO-1 Pro but they go stright into the wall to be powered, do you think it's better ? why do you think they didn't use the same supply for both models, either via power supply or straight into the wall ? Thanks a lot, i'm about to buy one and i'm thinking which one to get.....
@leothemetal3 жыл бұрын
Well, first of all-I've never tested ISO 1 AC, so I can't tell. But, if they do the job-just use it. I don't really care, what kind of circuit they use, as long as they deliver isolated outputs. However, I noticed, that ISO 1 AC is heavier, and it delivers less power. ISO Pro series give 300 mA on each output at least, I can power some tube preamps with those, ISO 1 AS gives less. So, something that is lighter and gives more power is my personal choice.

Are these again just branded version of Vitoos power supplies (particularly DD series)? Great review though!
@leothemetal3 жыл бұрын
Well, a lot of you guys tell me that these are probably vitoos units rebranded as Harley Benton. The thing is-I live in Germany and I use the parts that are available here. And I've never seen Vitoos power units on the german market. And of course I've never looked inside of Vitoos to compare these devises. And I don't know the inside information about chinese brands and retailers who sell the same things under different brand name. One thing that is important for me is warranty from Thomann. This german retailer stays behind its own brand and makes good quality control. And this is for low price as well. The point is- I don't know if HB is rebranded Vitoos or not.

Hi, i am thinkin of getting uk 3pin power supply with similar power rating to replace the supplied one . how does the ios 5 pro react to non harley benton power supply? Noise wise.
@leothemetal3 жыл бұрын
Well, noise issues might be caused by non-regulated supply. But the regulators and filter capacitors are inside the unit itself, so if you plug 12 V 2000 mA center negative it should work the same way. Unless you order power supply from AliExpres and it doesn't have the parameters you need. In fact, most of the power supplies are simmilar, you can't do anything wrong. It's like-can you plug ENGL amp to Marshall Cabinet? Or HP computer to non HP monitor

@leothemetal3 жыл бұрын
А еще лучше-купить то, что не шумит, например такое kzbin.info/www/bejne/rZ2UiouDhp55l9k или такое kzbin.info/www/bejne/b4DId4mnaLuUg9E или такое kzbin.info/www/bejne/ipyrd3yQr9CqkM0 Они точно не шумят.

@leothemetal3 жыл бұрын
Well, I tried to make it as short as possible. :) I referenced the reviews of ISO 2 Pro and original powerplant, because some people might ask what the hell are daisy chains, why isolated is good or what are ground loops. So if someone is not familiar with these kind of questions, he might look at previous videos, where I mentioned it. I try to keep talking as little as possible, besides I have awful free speech.
