After My RCBS scale died after 3 weeks, i was waiting for the new Chargemaster Lite to get released. I got a Chargemaster, which died right out the box. I soon learned that the RCBS only had a 1 year warranty. The A&D fx120i has a 5 year warranty, and is faster than 2 Chargemasters. Its a no brainer investment from a time savings perspective. My time is valuable, so it was an easy decision to make. After buying the scale and Autotrickler. You should also get the certified checkweight. It never stops. @6.5 guys: great video as always! keep them coming.

I just got one of these last week and it rocks!! 20 min after arrival, I was loading ammo with 10 second fill times. It works as expected and is amazingly accurate, no overthrows like the Charge Master or Hornady Lok-N-Load.

Thank you for your video. You bring out some good points about the auto trickler and FX120i. But I don't think you stress the time savings enough. I reload about 100 times a year and I save about 20 minutes each time I load with the autotrickler and FX120I. For me it could be said that the trickler and scale pays for itself in about a year and half. I also saved about an hour of my time by having Cambridge Environmental program the scale for me for $20. In addition I bought the scale and autotrickler from the same place, Cambridge Environmental. It was more convenient. Thanks again, Brant

Excellent video. I have been looking at this setup for a while. Currently running 2 Charge Master's. Thank you!

I have the same scale. It's by far the best you can get for reloading. It measures to 2/100ths of a grain (not 1/100th like they say in the video). However, that's plenty precise to measure individual granules of powder. On top of that, there are other inaccuracies in digital scales where the displayed weight is only so reliable. This model is so well made you can trust the display every time. I don't reload enough to warrant the auto trickler for $450, but I can see myself making that investment as I grow in the sport. Great video. Thanks guys!

Hands down the best way to measure powder. I highly recommend this as well. I have a charge master it's good but it's not accurate. I also have my Dillion xl650 with the micrometer installed on the powder bar. Nothing comes close to the accuracy. I am shooting a GA Precision 6.5GAP 4S and want to squeeze everything out of it and this is the way to do it. The only thing that could come close to this setup is a Prometheus powder scale but it's 5 times the cost as in $5,000 and to buy one is a nightmare... no joke.

I find the combination of the Charge Master type thrower (I personally use the Lyman Gen6) and a milligram scale (I use Sartorious) is the fastest for precision loading.

I remember back nearly 20 years watching DAVID TUBB`s HIGHPOWER RIFLE RELOADING video his set up, was cutting edge stuff and must have cost him around $1,000 back then and that was crazy money for a reloading scale/thrower , and that was measuring to the kernel and was out of the reach of most reloaders but if you want to be the best , you have to buy the best or know a guy who has the best gear and use his when he is not looking or go haves with him to split the cost then you are only $500 for a top of the line unit . So that set cost is a lot of money and to a guy who aspires to be the top shooter in the long run , " buy once cry once , " comes to mind . Quality does not come cheap , and hoping it works out for you guys in the durability of the units . The RCBS + the HORNADY units look in my eyes a more durable unit , might not be as accurate to the 0.01 of a grain, but time will tell how well the A&D FX120-i scale combo turns out .

I was just looking at David Tubb's Sierra Highpower rifle reloading vid today. Popped it on the "wish list" of a store to come back to another day. From 20 years ago, how do you think it compared, or compares, to what is default now? Assuming, there are more precision reloading now, than when the video was made, and gear available?

I use a Chargemaster and double weigh the powder charges on a Bald Eagle electronic scale and a Dandy electronic Trickler. It takes time to weigh my charges to the 100th of a grain, but I also weigh my bullets and my brass. Removing as many of the variables is the key to precision rifle success, leaving only you and the wind to contend with. I earned my NRA High Master's Classification card in F-class by doing these tedious steps and using this equipment so diminishing returns be damned. My Chargemaster is also very accurate so maybe I got lucky.

Appreciate your review tremendously! Steve, can you share some detail regarding your modification the FX120i side wall for inserting the autotrickler tube? I'm assuming the frame is plastic? What size drill bit etc...any difficulties completing the process? Just wondering why the mod is not an option at purchase? Thanks!

I would like to see a blind test between these new super duper powder/scale combos vs something like the tried and trued Chargemaster. I know on my Chargemaster both my 6.5 SD is below 5FPS. That's using a CM 1500 and CM Lite.

Aren't we getting to the point where the law of diminishing returns kicks in? Is this benchrest level of OCD necessary? $1000 will get THREE chargemasters and will be within Scott's .2gr window of acceptability (and he was talking about a volumetric powder drop loading progressively). A great thorough review of the product though, keep em coming, thanks for all your efforts.
@michaelcrossman96927 жыл бұрын
I agree with redleg1013's statement, besides, if you followed your previous guest host's OCW recommendation, you will have optimum charge weight/velocity within a 0.1 grain of powder and not have much velocity variation. I load a fair number of rounds at one sitting, but if my RCBS 1500 Chargemaster throws >0.1 grain programmed for, then toss that charge back in the hopper and start a new charge. I appreciate your efforts producing these videos.
@chrismartinez83937 жыл бұрын
redleg1013 The whole point is getting consistent returns in your reloading. It pays off huge in the long range game. Also it cut my reloading time in half and cut my groups at long range in half. I used to have 5 to 6 inch groups at 500yd but down to 2.5 inchs. All I want to do is make the right wind calls.

S4 - 04 - 10 Round Load Development Ladder Test Sorry but could not remember the great video 6.5 guys did on load development mentioned in my first reply. I thought the goal was to find the velocity "sweet spot" whereby the ES was very small over the range of a few tenths of a grain. Having performed this technique in load development, I find no benefit for using the trickier methodology, nor spending the $. Again, thank you for the great videos

@@michaelcrossman9692 The problem I have with Chargemaster is that it LIES sometimes especially the first charge can be grossly off and you wouldn't know it unless you were double checking on another scale which is what I do. Now it's still a great machine, my 1500 was all over the place so I returned it, but my Lite is much more accurate and with rebate and all I could get 6 of them for the price of one Auto Trickler setup but if I was shooting competition I would want reliability of FX120 scale. The demonstration I saw on Adam's channel (creator) just made my jaw drop how quickly he was going, RCBS doesn't even come close.

Another great video! Thanks guys.What is involved with changing out Powers? Do you have to calibrate again. Be interesting to see a video of changing powders.
@65Guys6 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the encouraging feedback. Changing powders out is similar to what you would experience using an RCBS Charge master. Dump the powder out from the dispensers back into the powder jug and clear the metering charger of any powder as well. Then refill the hoppers with new powder. It only takes a few minutes to change over to a new powder. There is no need to recalibrate... simply rezero the scale.

@raining19757 жыл бұрын
Neil Harris the resolution is .02 grains or .001 grams. Tecnically .001 grams is .015 grains but the scale shows .02 grain increments. this is why you should set the scale to grams not grains to get that little bit extra granularity out of the scale.

@65Guys6 жыл бұрын
Yes, we've seen the Prometheus powder dispenser system. Dean - you provided your opinion but didn't explain your point of view as to why you think this is ridiculous. The auto throw and auto trickler system has proven to be extremely popular with precision rifle shooters who are looking for a consistent and high level of precision in throwing powder charges as well as considerably speed the process. The system is expensive is expensive and likely not for everyone - whereas the RCBS chargemaster provides a similar more affordable solution it is not as precise and consistent and much slower.
@dinohudson14326 жыл бұрын
@@65Guys Ridiculous b/c of the price. Lots of auto powder dispensers on the market w/ tricklers for a lot less. Mechanism seems great, all of it, but I don't see where the Co. can pump these out for 1/2 the price.
@65Guys6 жыл бұрын
We agree the product is expensive and beyond the budget for many reloaders, but for serious competitors that place a premium on their time and want the level of precision and consistency this product is capable of - they are certainly buying this product and even the Prometheus system . Both have proven to be very popular with serious precision rifle competitors that have the financial means and have balanced both sides of the price/performance equation based on their needs.
