I'm guilty of taking more things than I need. I was always thought it's better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it. There's a problem though I went overboard with it and this year I'm not taking a backpack in the wood with me anymore. Great video Dan keep them coming

I am really trying to get away from having a pack, but I like the idea of carrying my jacket in my pack and putting it on After I'm in my tree and starting to cool down. I also like taking a snack and spare stuff like gloves, head net, batteries for my headlamp, etc. I put my calls and release in it as well. But man I would love to go packless! I Will however not take one for only sitting the last two hours on a p.m. hunt though

Nothing wrong with taking a backpack Just try not to completely fill it up! A lot of times a small backpack like you had in school is all you need depends on how far you're going in if you're packing out a animal but if you want to be a minimalist, the safety vest with pockets and packing gear on your stand or saddle setup is the way to go. ( my o-pin-yun). Shoot a big one this season👍

I really matured as a hunter in the last 10 seasons Use to bring a 2500ci day pack full of gear on every hunt Now most hunts I only carry what I can fit in my pockets and a med sized fanny pack Heaviest thing I now carry other than my bow is my 4.9" P320 Most bow hunts now dont even pack any snacks or water Usually take a 5" folding saw Fiskers pruning shears two XSM head lamps ORG surveyors tape 30mm film container of milk weed Leatherman Wave binos LRF compass Buck Vanguard and phone bow rope & Hanger Just makes hunting all around more enjoyable having simplified things

My dad and I each got a pair of rocky rubber boots in 2003 or so when I was in school. After the military and years of travel, I grabbed them from his house in 2019 or so and they still work great with no leaks. I wonder if they weren’t made the same way many are made today.

Yea the old LaCross boots we used to get in the 90s had the same quality as the Gumleaf's but modern Chinese boots including LaCross don't last me 1/2 a season. Gumleaf is made out of rubber not a plastic/rubber mix
@Ranger.Vt.
@Ranger.Vt. 11 ай бұрын
One of the main ingredients these companies started adding along with plastic, is clay to the rubber to cut corners . So instead of 100% rubber like the old days. It’s more like 70/30. Years ago we always used Lacross and Northerner rubber boots on our farm and they lasted for years. Putting them through the ringer in the barn. Now, hunting Lacross don’t last a full season. The clay/plastic drys out and they constantly crack. Another great boot company is Baffin out of Canada. 100% rubber, expensive, but they last.
