I really enjoyed this video! So informative, I’ve just received this guitar and I’m wondering what you used to clean the neck before adding the lemon oil? Also is there a cheaper alternative to Dunlop lemon oil? Or does it have to be that specific brand? Thank you 🎸

My memory is not the greatest, but I think I used a tiny touch of water.... on a kitchen towel. Sometimes, when a neck is really dirty, I would use water with a tiny hint of kitchen liquid soap....... but very very diluted. Finally, any lemon oil will be fine but don't use your fingers like I did because not sure what chemicals may be in the one you buy.

Gibson says cheap baby oil will do exactly the same thing as lemon oil. They are both mineral oils. Thats what I use and no problems This is from harmony central "Real" Lemon Oil is the industry standard for cleaning fretboards for hundreds of years, (it has nothing to do with lemons BTW, it's a petroleum product, it's just yellow and has a tart smell). It cleans grungy fretboards well, but some brands strip the natural oil out of the wood. It's poisonous, and some brands are flammable. Most lemon oils are simply low grade Light Mineral Oil and a splash of naphtha (or similar solvent), and many times a lemon scent is added because people expect a lemon oil to smell of lemons.

That gentle "No'rion" accent grabbed me immediately and kept me listening to the end. Great review. My only criticism would be that you might have explained what exactly you were doing to ensure the 12th fret and the open strings were perfect octaves. I never remember whether it's "clockwise" or "Anti-clockwise" for flat or sharp and I end up doing it by trial and error every time I acquire a new instruemtn. You have probably given it back by now, but how much did it weigh approximately? Most LPs I have strung around my neck were so heavy that 30 minutes of playing would cause shoulder problems.

Yo bro, Norn' Ireln guy here... have you links with this fair (cold and rainy) place... anyhow.... critique taken... tighten makes it sharp (brings the saddle closer to the 12th fret) also, I remember that it was heavy at 11 ½ pounds.... it tend to skip over some boring bits as I don't want to be repetitive and put people to sleep but I must remember to at least explain innovation each time, at least for one string, and then speed it up.... ta. :-)

@@LennonLuthierFinagler Hi there, My connection with Ulster goes back centuries. Some ancestor of mine came over from Scotland when the Armstrongs were banished from there by the Scots King. However the earliest direct ancestor I know of (Great Grandfather Armstrong) was living in Dublin when he married a lass from Connemara . He took his family to Liverpool and my Dad and his siblings were all born there. However, as Grandma Armstrong was born in Dublin, I had no problem getting my Irish Citizenship and Passport. We had always been brought up to remember our Irish roots and we listened to a lot of Irish music as kids (and American and Irish country, of course 😊). I have lived in Catalunya for the last 36 years. I am primarily a singer songwriter, but I made my living here as a translator and Lecturer in translation. (Now retired) I did a review of another cheap Chinese made Les Paul you might be interested in seeing: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z4DFoX6ggcaNnc0 and I did the "Peter Green" Mod on it later kzbin.info/www/bejne/b5S3iIeciZVqd6M As you will see, I am not the world's best guitarist, nor the most skilled Luthier. But I had fun😉 Happy to make your acquaintance. Do you make Irish Bouzoukis by any chance?

Also one more thing if you don’t mind, when you were tuning it and discovering that the strings were flat on the 12 fret, what were you adjusting off camera to make them not flat please? ☺️

I think you are referring to intonating the strings on the 12th fret.... let me drop a link below to show you how to do that.

As for the logo its obvious G4M don't listen to the customers as I head a million times now that logo sucks big time and that logo will stop people buying their guitars, I bought a Les Paul style in 2012 and it's NEVER been out of my bedroom because of that God awful logo, it plays pukka though I give it that.
@LennonLuthierFinagler11 ай бұрын
I must admit that I know of no guitarist that would take one of these on stage because of the logo...
