I really don’t get it. So I create a hotspot with my phone to connect to my Honda so I can create a Honda hotspot? Why wouldn’t I just connect the devices in my car using the hotspot on my phone? Why wouldn’t I just browse the Internet on my phone that i can hold in my hand? I have these features but I really don’t see how they are useful at all. What do I gain from connecting my Honda to the internet other than being able to browse the internet for some weird reason?

@@fredziffle5219 larger screen? Mine was a 2018 pilot. Only screen I have is the kids screen in the back and the front one can’t view anything more than car play would have. What larger screen did you gain? My kids usually have the iPad plugged into the rear hdmi for movies and they can download ahead or connect to my phone for hotspot. How does this affect screen sizes in any way? Maybe newer models are different?

Hello Philip. I wish I could have asked you that question before. I bought the 2018 model and the CarPlay maps doesn’t work in full mode and my hope was to use WiFi in the car for Google maps instead. I would need to live with this for the next 5 years or until Honda and or Apple come with a better integration of software Happy holidays

Philip, Is it possible to use the Wifi connectivity to do firmware updates to the radio software? I've found that it occasionally goes south on me, it's locked up about 3 times in the last year... music typically keeps playing, the radio goes dark and eventually it does a hard reboot. I dug around in the menus and it appears to run Linux 4.2.2, which is pretty old. I was wondering if there might be an update to provide better stability. Thanks.

@@ericsail14 No, afraid not Eric. I did take my CR-V into the dealer for a service, and to do a recall (transmission shifter pushbutton can fly apart) and my radio problems pretty much disappeared. It does lock up, but maybe once a year. So I suspect there is an update.

Go into the settings. I can't remember exactly how to get there but just keep digging around in settings. Eventually you will find the settings "app" which is how I learned the infotainment system runs on Android (version 4.x), that's why you can sideload android apps.

I had a problem something like that if you are the driver and your headlight are on auto and you stop the car turn the engine off your headlights will stay on until you exit the car so if you are waiting on someone that went in som8ewhere turn your headlights off are get out of the car.

Yes the usb connection should have nothing to do with the internet. If you are using apple carplay though you will need to be connected and it will override bluetooth.

Libera Music wifi will be available in 2018 odyssey and possibly other future Honda's. wifi comes from public source or your phones hotspot in this car

Also, for everyone now, how can I UNDO the automatic parking brake setup. To set it up I held the electric parking brake on the up position for 10 seconds to have the parking brake set itself up automatically when I shut off the car but now I would like to know how to UNDO it. That may be the high compression of the engine. It's commonly mistaken for a problem when that's just the compression and not a problem. Take it to your service department if you feel that there is an issue.

My 2016 pilot doesn't allow me to install anything else in my infotainment system. Somehow the install button is disabled. Would you know a solution to that... Having no carplay or AA, that seems to be the next best thing... If I get to make it work.

Anne Painter to use the map on that car just plug your phone into USB port and use Apple CarPlay or android auto depending on your phone. Then your map on your phone will show on the screen. This doesn’t require a WiFi connection.

You can only use the maps installed on the car which I believe are Garmin based. If you use apple car play you can use Imaps and if you use android auto you can use google maps.
