Hopefully this gets to you, My XJ only has one working speaker. I can get the driver side door to work if i have the door a certain way…is this a radio, speaker, or wiring issue?

Check the wiring in the rubber boot from the door to the door frame

Door speaker wires in front doors are always the common problem. You can do both things: Wire directly to back of stereo Repair factory speaker wires

I did check the wires for continuity from the stereo to the speaker and they are good, it just needs new ones. Which is fine because they sound like garbage anyway lol

GearHeads that’s good!!!! When you do speaker installation in the rear headliner, use a speaker harness adapter for easy install instead of hacking into the factory wiring of the rear speakers

Gotta say I prefer to solder my wires but as long as you use good but connectors (like you did) it is a easy and clean job

It depends on the situation but I usually crimp over solder for auto applications. Auto manufacturers crimp more than solder in their own harnesses as well because solder is brittle and can crack over time and vibrations etc. For something that sits still Solder is a great way to go!

My XJ has a crappy aftermarket CD deck in it now, and I'm swapping in a better one that has bluetooth soon. Can I just reuse the wiring harness that the old aftermarket deck used and plug that harness into the back of my new deck? They're different brands. Or do I need to wire it all up anew?

I just bought an 01 XJ and the after market radio is draining the battery, (it can still turn on even when the vehicle is off), any tips on what to look for as I pull it out and inspect? Thanks!

Yes they likely switched or connected both the red and yellow wires coming out of the radio, use a multi-meter or test light and look up the instructions for your radio model and test for constand power and key on power at the back and if it is incorrect then wire it appropriately.

Hello, So I have a problem with my 2001 XJ Sport, there is no sound, The radio has time and when my dad took it out and hooked it up It worked, so we don't believe it’s the radio. While doing research I saw that a lot of people said there can be bad wiring in the door, we checked the wiring in the door and all the wires were fine, Now I'm not sure where to look. If its a wiring problem I'm not sure where, and all the speakers look good, but I can't promise the speakers are good, it just seems weird for all of them to be bad. Has anyone else had this same problem and were you able to fix it? Thanks in advance for all answers.

If anyone has a really good - working - Factory or other - with a great-sounding Tape Player - or even the few Recorders - let me know - I would love to get back to the Retro feel for the Jeep. (Ponders - Even an 8 Track player would be a cool feel for the Jeep - I know the Jeep is post-1970s era - but what a cool idea!)

Love that style of butt connector! Check out some of the Bluetooth aux inputs on Amazon - mine was $25 and works great!

I have seen them that cheap but I think I will be spending the money and getting something a bit nicer when the time comes as well as installing all new speakers and maybe an amp...we'll see!

Emergency haha I have 2extra wires that are connected like grounds but they are purple and white with black stripes but there's already a black ground
