Thanks for explaining the thing. Nearly all other overviews of this device do not point out how it goes in the helmet and where the sound actually comes from. Every time I hear chips I get hungry.

These are absolutely the most horrible speakers you can get. the sound is hollow and not loud at all. also the Bluetooth signal is weak and constantly drops. Also I had 2 pairs that one speaker completely stopped working and outdoortech wouldn't fix... BEWARE

I'm really glad I ran across this through KZbin, I'm thinking about ordering this since I am in process of making my mandalorian armour and this would be awesome for the helmet. When it takes in audio though does it need a hole in the side so the sound can feed through?

Great video. My CHIPS won’t take a charge after not using them for a while. The red light goes on for a couple seconds, then disappears. I can plug my cord into them and listen when wired so I know the speakers work. Any ideas on how I can get my CHIPS to take a charge? I checked in with Outdoor Tech and they have referred me to Smith, but await a response from them. Appreciate your time

So, question. How does the walkie talkie aspect of the chips work? I want to be able to talk to my brothers while we ride. I haven't been able to find any reviews on how that aspect of the chips actually works. Please send help :) Thanks, Jake

Jake--seemingly works really well. In a nutshell, install the Outdoor Tech OTD walkie walkie app. Create your group (basically like WhatsApp). With the app open and the group selected, you can press the button on the app and then start talking as normal. It will then transmit to everyone in the group. Presumably you can do a press on the actual Chips, instead of pressing the button on the phone--which makes logical sense given thats what it is for--but I can't figure out how to do that yet. Instructions on this are noticeably lacking.

Aaron Harris While we didn't test it with an Android device, since the instructions are not specific to iOS of to Android we'd have to assume that they're the same or very close to it.

Well, these things do not work in negative 10 degrees. I was skiing at jay yesterday and the audio was constantly cutting out and it was like listening to a scratched cd. but they do work really well when they are in the correct temperature.

Can you put these in a full face mask, such as a motorcylce helmet. If so and would there be enough wiggle room to get your hand up in the helmet to use the touch controls?

Goo question, but to be honest, we have no idea. They're fairly thin (about 1/2 inch each) so they don't take up much room. The trouble that you'd run into is whether the motorcycle helmet you're using has a place for them to live. In the ski helmets we tested them with, there is a pocket specifically for an audio system like the Chips. Let us know if you wind up trying them as we'd like that answer also!

functionality is wonderful. HOWEVER!!! The second I start to move, the music cuts out continuously. Unbelievably frustrating. What is the fix Outdoor Tech?!?

What we noticed is that the ~30 foot bluetooth rule doesn't really apply here. Maybe because of layers of clothing, etc. Once we got our phones closer to the Chips, there was no problem.

Besides the charger chord, and the chord to connect your phone to the chips if the battery is dead, there's also another piece in the box. Is that an Android device connector?

+GEARIST It's not a chord. It's a small plastic piece with a prong and a "female" usb port.

That is how these are charged. I goes on top of the male end of a micro usb and then goes into the Chip with a 3.5mm jack. That is the way it charges and that's what that piece is.

Worked fine for us, even when moving. Every now and then a BIT of wind sound sneaks in there but the ear pad pockets seem to buffer the large majority of it.

Because they're not meant for that. At all. There are a bunch of people who e commented here about buying them for that saying they're not loud enough. Then oddly, everyone gets all pissed off even though they're not marketed to motorcyclists at all.
