Great review. I have looked around a good deal and not seen this product before. It is exactly what I am looking for.

Nice piece of gear and great review of it. Haven’t used a bivy on my adventures but could see this being really useful on warm, dry trips.

I have a mid with a mesh inner. Tons of room and up in under 2 minutes. Push in four stakes and raise the trekking pole Out of the rain quick. Don’t usually use the mesh inner-just put down a piece of plastic sheeting.

Good video. I'm looking to replace my existing bivy for a lighter option for my AT SOBO thru hike this year, and am glad this video exists. I'm a bit taller, at 6'2" so I'm still unsure if I'll be too tall in this or not. Subbed for more.

Hey mate, thanks for commenting and the sub. Nice! That’s definitely on my to do list one of these days. I did forget to mention the length which is 6’9” You’d definitely be tighter but still have room I think Guess it depends how cozy you want to be or how much extra weight you want to carry for a bigger bivy

What knots do you use to tie out the top parts of the bivy with the trekking poles?

Glove hitch is my quick go to

Is it hard to get into the bivy with that top zipper if you have it under a tarp or tent? Thanks for the great review.
@JakeMarcin4 жыл бұрын
What I like to do if I have the tarp down low is to have the bivy unclipped from the tarp at the feet so it is flat to the ground, then get into the bivy, clip the hook at the feet back to the tarp and then zip up the top zipper. I hope that makes sense? Thanks for watching and if you have any further questions please feel free to let me know

Hey Jake I’m a subscriber and love your work I’m really keen in getting one of these bivvys just wanting to know how you got one and the process I know it was a long time ago but hoping you still know👍 Cheers 👍

Hi Rob, Thanks for watching and the comment. Bivvy was purchased from MLD (Mountain Laurel Design). They are pretty much made to order so can take a bit of time but I still use and love mine. If you have any more questions feel free to ask

@@JakeMarcin thanks mate 👍

You said you paired this with your MLD Duomid. Do the ends clip into the corner mitten hooks of the mid? Or have you rigged some other way?
@JakeMarcin2 жыл бұрын
There are clips inside the Doomed to clip in this Bivy, certainly works well

Really like that bivy. I ultimately chose the cheaper option, Paria breezy mesh bivy. But, the weight on that bivy is awesome. Subscribed to your channel. Crow ✌️

hey mate where did you purchase this from? i cant find any retailers in Australia
@JakeMarcin4 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately I couldn't find it from any Aussie retailers either and brought it direct from MLD in the U.S
@haydos214 жыл бұрын
@@JakeMarcin yeah if it wasn't for the horrible exchange rate right now I'd do the same, but it'll end up being very expensive. I'm looking at getting something custom made from Terra Rosa Gear in Melbourne instead

I agree and it’s great to support Aussie fear makers. My goal going forward is to try and only source gear from Australian manufacturers (and there’s some great stuff going!)

I have been charged via paypal and ordered this product on June 18 and still waiting for a simple email never mind the product yet. I have tried contacting them multiple times just to make sure they did not forget about my order. Been trying to contact them for the past 3 weeks, but unsuccessful. Long story short - I ordered one and had to return it because they used an updated design, which they admitted was a flawed design. So I sent back the flawed bivy. They did send me the replacement on June 5th, but the package was stolen. So I ordered another one and now I have been waiting to hear from them to make sure they are even working on making me my bivy as I had already paid for it. So beware if you want to purchase something from them.

Wow! Cannot believe it’s still going on! So sorry to hear mate.... Hope it gets resolved soon, such a shame to hear they dropped the ball on the communication side of things, that’s far to long without a reply, especially since they are normally quite good. Wonder what’s going on over there. Do keep us updated. It’s good for everyone to know and be aware

Great review. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Looks like a pretty good Bivvy. For others who might be looking at Bivvys, Erik (from the channel Erik off track) did a review of his RAB Elements Solo bug net. kzbin.info/www/bejne/sIO4h6Chq9yGnqs

Thanks for posting that, I did check out that bivy, ultimately the weight of this one and added splash protection won me over but that was certainly in the running
