Let’s go back to the time of 2006 when gears 1 first launched. I was one of the first 100 people to get the seriously achievement. Kill 1000 people on multiplayer online mode. Microsoft and epic actually sent me a shirt for being one of the first 100 people to get that achievement. Still have it today.

Bullet sponges(especially on insane difficulty),19 pride banners ( one would have sufficed), red screen health indicator blinds the player, extreme grind in Multiplayer. Horde still has less variety than it's iteration in Gears of war 3 and the „swarm“ still isn't as fun to fight as the „locust“ from the original trilogy (sound design and appearance)

Errrrmmm not quite correct. The Soviets did intentionally employ women in some frontline combat roles (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Night_Witches). Others got involved in direct combat with Axis forces through chance and then there are the thousands in frontline combat as part of the partisan forces.

I give the single player a 6. That being said, i enjoy immersion in a video game and just could not quite get there with the poor story and characters among other things. Graphics and the shooting mechanics carry its weight for the most part.

Buckshot has an effective range out to about 30-35 yards give or take depending on the cartridge and if you use a choke. Slugs out of smooth bore barrels are accurate out to 100 yards. Rifled Barrels with Sabot Slugs +200 yards. As for the American 2nd Amendment, assault rifles and automatic weapons in general are only deployed by the Military and Police. "Assault Weapons" is the current talking point by people looking to strip rights and property from otherwise peaceful citizens. Never addressing the criminal elements that don't buy firearms from a gun store. But often buy weapons, ammunition, and drugs from corrupt law enforcement. Supplied straight from evidence lockers.

I watched the whole way through and enjoyed listening to your perspective as a first-time Gears player. I'm a long time fan of the series so I had different expectations of Gears 5, but I agree with you that it disappoints in many areas. Thanks for saying that. I was trying to be mindful and transparent about the fact that I was a newcomer to the series. On one hand I had to call it how I see it, but at the same time remember that I was wading into the middle of a franchise that people have known and loved for years. At the end of the day, all I could really do was tell people where I was coming from, and say what I honestly thought. Its good to hear people are kicking up a stink on the reddit. The less people complain, the faster games become infested with microtransactions. Its only because of complaint that now "not having microtransactions" has become a selling feature. We cant win every battle, but I think we might at least carve out a bit of territory of the gaming world which is free of microtransactions and pedocaches. That has to count for something. I'm a bit of a gears of war lore buff and fun fact, the reason why the lancer has a chainsaw in the first place is not to rip people in half in fact that's the exact opposite of what it's supposed to be used for, it's actually meant to be used for cutting obstacles in your path that would block you from your objectives... Using the chainsaw to rip people into pieces would make bone super heat and fly in directions at near lethal speeds

Oh nice, a review that doesn't praise this game after pointing out flaws more often than praise. The score weighting on some of the reviews for this game are so skewed it makes me wonder if they suck at reviewing or just editing videos to make their point. I've seen one channel (Hint: DING!) where he spent 8 minutes of his 10 minute review complaining and then somehow said the game was great fun and worth a purchase at full price. Another great review. I got Gears 4 from somewhere in the Windows store thingy and I could barely play more than a few levels. If you look at the gun and camera, they feel meaty, good. But then you notice the enemy is laughing at the plinker you are shooting and it all falls apart. Add to that mediocre story, hear your review of 5 and it seems they have managed to serialize that mediocre formula to a T... Thanks again for the great review, keep that toxicity up, it's priceless.

Glad to hear you played Jagged Alliance. I thought it was a title that was wiped from gaming's collective memory. JA2 (modded) may very well be my favorite tactical game of all time, warts and all. I still start up new campaigns once a year or so. Unfortunately, the few attempts to revive the franchise that I've heard about over the years all seem like piles of fuck. I’ve been playing the Gears 5 campaign only because it’s on Game Pass. I can’t shake the feeling that it’s designed like a theme park dark ride. Walk a little & listen to some “witty” dialog (follow the ride track) & then stop briefly for a battle (show scene).

I really tried to enjoy this but between the connection issues, mentally diminished teammates, the myriad of technical fuck ups, and the shit filled dumpster fire that was their “store”, I just couldn’t do it for more than a few hours. The thing I like about this channel the most is that 21 never says that a game is 100% awesome or 100% bad. He gives you the full scope of positive and negative and is totally fair. And he never says you should not buy the game or that there is something wrong with you if you personally enjoy the game. Because of this excellent journalism I have been able to make better gaming purchasing decisions over the past year, as well as being made aware of really good lesser known games that I might otherwise never knew existed. I'm trying to finish my 4th run of Code Vein this morning (for 100 percent achievements), then I'm going to try and finish Greedfall before Frostpunk comes out on Friday. That's one game I've been meaning to play for awhile, and now I have no excuse. Gears 5 I had started playing, but I only got a few chapters into the story before moving on. I think I'm just not a Gears fan. I tried to play 1, 4, and now 5, and I never get past the first few chapters. Something about Gears just feels sluggish and clunky to me.

i love how you explained escape so fucking perfectly, although the when ya talked about the horde mode and said the vets would "lap it up" actually, we really dont like it, it was a huge downgrade to what gears of war 3 had to offer and was really dumbed down form of the previous games' horde modes

Thank you for pointing that out mate. The Gears veterans like yourself have been incredibly civil considering that I waded in with zero experience of the franchise. A lot of people have commented that they feel Gears 5 is something of a "diminished" version of the game.

Yet another 1st class video! I really should wait for your reviews on a game, you seem to pick my pain points perfectly. I bought the game, played a bit and haven't returned, not to sure why. Key binding is uncomfortable, and my character also feels laggy or drunk, but that could be my settings. Personally I do not mind micro transactions that are optional and NOT pay-to-win. I also don't mind XP boosters as long as the game is fun to play. When they design painful grinding in, then XP boosters are total bullshit. My friend doesn't have a lot of time to play but he does have a lot(ish) of money so XP boosters helps him advance. I play without boosters and am happy as long as the game is fun

Given everything Ive heard about the franchise, and the devotion some people have to the brand ... I was a little bit surprised by the game. I just didnt feel that "magic". I enjoyed the first three games they were enjoyable the stories are like bad B movies the first three games tied up the story nicely but unfortunately they just kept going with them whit the same gameplay. And they never answered the question why didn't Earth send help ? How come they never try to make contact ? I thought after part 3 they would answer all these questions but they never did. It's like they totally forgot that this game wasn't set on planet Earth and was actually set on a planet in another system.

So, in the history of Gears, human ships were sent off Earth in case of a World War, the ships that were sent crash landed on Sera, due to the crash landing, they had to start almost basically from scratch. So the humans of Sera had to essentially start from scratch, Earth has become a myth and contact has not been reestablished as of Gears 5. A lot of people do not believe Earth exists, and with the Pendulum War and the locust/swarm have been keeping everyone busy and unable to focus on taking to the skies (though not for a lack of trying which can be seen through one section of this game).

They've change the drop rate on the cache keys in the division 2, used to be able to grind them out no problem and I guess for Ubisoft soft that was a problem so I'm done with the division 2 for a while. But I'll still watch your videos for shits and giggles, keep up the great work man love you videos.

Thank you Danny. Im hearing the drop rate is down to about 10% from 50% .... although the individual results vary hugely.. I have one mate who is getting about 30% and another mate who has had ZERO drops so far and he pounded the game for apparel caches. I think they have just about pissed everyone off now.

Great Review. Sums up my thoughts perfectly. I last played GOW back on the 360. It hadn't really changed much. The semi open world was needless, I started doing the optional quests but quickly realised they were pointless and just ploughed through. I feel like the lore and backstory deserves a mass effect style RPG with a deeper explanation of the different races and their motives. Pretty dissapointing really, glad I got it on game pass and didnt "pay" outright.

4 out of 10? lmao. ok man. Best Gears yet I thought. Horde mode is an absolute blast as well. The story in G5 is up there with games like Tomb Raider. When I say story, I don't just mean story content, it's how it's all executed as well.This is probably the first Gears I didn't say to myself with every new enemy wave - "Here we go again".

I think this game is being generally rated too highly, because its benig released at a time where most TripleA titles are trainwrecks and live service fiascos. Keep in mind that for half the price you can buy games like Frostpunk, Kingdom Come Deliverance, Breathedge and Deap Rock Galactic. Gears 5 is a generic sequel, where they have rolled back on some of the production values to save money, and increased monetization. I think 4/10 is actually fair.

Although I enjoyed this video, because I mostly enjoy your videos, your analysis suffers from your admitted ignorance of the GOW universe. It's too bad that your first GOW was with the weakest entry. As a side comment, the Gnasher (shotgun) is designed for specific GOW strats. In addition, the weapon loadout is a standard loadout for the GOW universe. These are the weapons produced by this universe and by the coalition. They are what they are. There is more to this title than one casual playthrough of a weaker entry can communicate. Nevertheless, I'm glad you gave it a shot.

I don't think I'm going to buy Gears 5. Did anyone read the reviews for the game on Xbox? Almost every review I saw was 1/2 stars. Tons of people said that negative reviews were being deleted, and that the review average was artificially jacked up from 2 stars to 5 stars. Many reviews mentioned The coalition going woke? Sounds like a big nope from me.
